The Dawn of a New Year on the Verge of Paradise

I've a few doses of serenity for you from Chico, CA (eight miles from Paradise). For more beautiful scenes, visit UnknownMami to tour the world of bloggers' hometowns ala Sundays in My City.
[All photos that I post are my own, unless otherwise specified.]

"There is always calm in the midst of chaos,

love in the midst of hate,
and hope in the midst of despair.

You may not find them immediately, but have faith and hold tightly to your beliefs."

  1. Robyn, that first photo is an absolute stunner. I want to visit that place! Like a surreal world in the clouds...

  3. Those photos are amazing! Did you take them? If I'd known Chico was so beautiful I would have made it a point to visit before I moved away from NoCal.

  4. What beautiful winters you have, Robyn. I don't know why all the residents of New England don't just migrate to California.

  5. I love all those tranquil scenes - just we need after all the chaos. Faith is important, Robyn.

  6. Nice photos! Hope you are happy and dry and warm. It's raining hard here right now and the temp is supposed to drop to 12 degrees. The sun is supposed to come out tomorrow.

  10. Seeing how we are drowning in snow here, I would like to book a flight right now to your city. It looks gorgeous there!

  11. It took me a while to figure out that Paradise must be a real city - I was taking it figuratively, and couldn't understand how come this place is 8 miles from perfection/Heaven. Was there someplace better that was only 2 miles from perfection? (Yeah, dumb, I know. But seriously who'd name a city "Paradise"? That's tempting fate, like when they called the Titanic "unsinkable." But that's only my silly opinion - and I'm the one who's sure there's an eyeball staring at me from the 2nd pic. :O

  13. Lexa, there are a handful of cities named Paradise in the US. The one I live on the verge of is truly beautiful. But there's an extremely high rate of registered sex offenders, drug abuse, and other other things that are anti-Paradise. It's interesting. I'm writing some about it in my book.

JoJo, yes, with my cheap camera. Chico is still kind of a secret, even though it's only a few hours from the SF Bay Area.

David, I sure hope the sun will come out tomorrow for you. It's only a day away. Tomorrow, to--sorry, ignore my singing.

Sorry, Theresa. I hear it's only getting worse.

Thanks for enjoying these pictures, everyone. I hope your year started off smoothly.

  17. Those pictures are beautiful. As everything here is completely frozen (and it's currently 1 degree. Just one singular degree) and crushed by snow, I'm missing those kinds of wonderful sights in the worst way.

  24. I'd say you are a lot closer to Paradise than that. In fact, it looks like Paradise right there...

Beautiful photos Robyn! I hope you had a great holiday season.
