The Latest in Chocolate: Chocolate Tea

I'm sipping NUMI's organic Pu-erh Tea.

The box informs that "Puerh is an ancient healing tea picked from 500 year old organic wild trees in Yunnan, China. Puerh has more antioxidants than most green teas...This velvety infusion combines black Puerh tea and organic cocoa. Accented by whole vanilla beans and sweet orange peel, this decadent blend is rounded off with a nutmeg and cinnamon finish."

It's a dose of warm, comforting, rich chocolate at zero calories. Can't beat that. NUMI's Chocolate Puerh is more pricy than the others, at $8.99 for 18 tea bags, but many of us spend $4-5+ for a cup or tea or coffee anyway. It's worth it. The only problem is, after finishing a cupful, I crave a chunk of the not-so-healthy stuff.

On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being perfect, I give NUMI's chocolate tea an 8.

Note: NUMI's isn't paying me to advertise their product, though they might consider it.

Stay warm, and have a great Thursday.

  1. Chocolate tea? I am not a big tea drinker, but I might have to try this. Iced of course. But not Southern style. (Two parts sugar to one part water.)

  2. YUM! Sounds wonderful. I love teas. Chocolate tea? Heck, why not?

Have you tried that Nutella? I got a snack pack the other day with mini-bread sticks and a dab of Nutella. Dee-lish.

Robyn...I want you to do me a favor, please. On your "Grab some chocolate" gadget in the upper left corner of your blog, there's an HTML code container box.

Can you copy that code for the box and send it to me? Please? I've been looking all over the place to see how to put those up.

Just go into "Edit Gadget" and copy it for me...I'll personalize it (take out all your info and input mine). Thanks!

  4. LOL. I haven't tried that tea. Do you get it in specialty food stores, or big superstores? And yes, they should pay you for your review. ;0

  5. I'm a huge tea drinker, but I've never heard of chocolate tea. I'd definitely give it a try. And like Momma Fargo said, where do you find this? I've never seen this in any store I've ever been to - grocery store, specialty food store, or otherwise.

  8. Hi, all,
Sorry I forgot to mention where I bought it: Nob Hill/Raley's. It's probably not at Safeway, but I'm guessing you can find it anywhere that sells NUMI tea.

Alex, I never heard of Southern style. I like the formula.

Mike, sure. And I love nutella, so I don't buy it. It wouldn't last more than a few minutes in my cupboard.

Pat, it is pretty good. I never saw it before either.

    MommaFargo, see above. Thanks.

LDiane, caramel sounds really good too. I'll have to keep an eye out for that one.

B&B, I'm sure you can find it in your whereabouts at Raley's/Nob Hill (which may just be in CA, I'm not sure). At any rate, check out stores that carry NUMI - mid-sized stores (neither specialty nor big superstores).

    Cheers, everyone.

  15. Chocolate tea makes chocolate pee.
    Think I'll have a cup.
    Of tea.
Which, I would think, goes without saying.

  16. This sounds heavenly. Thanks for the tease. Like I'll ever be able to find this on my tiny island in the Caribbean.

A friend has been teasing me with Chocolate wine, which is available down here, but I haven't tasted it yet. I'll let you know.

  20. I drink a lot of tea every day, but I've never tried chocolate tea. But I like chocolate just about anything else, so why not tea, too? I'll look for it the next time I'm in Trader Joe's.

  23. Julie, it's calorie-free. But it will get you craving the real thing real quick.

David, I imagine you could. Let me know if you do.

Susan, right. Why not? I like your attitude!

    Adam, it's worth a try.

Anthony, I understand and like you anyway.

MsA, it probably needs a bit of sugar but I think it'd be good iced.

Annalisa, yes. I hope you find it.

Faraway, I've had chocolate wine before. It was a wonderful port, Rosenblum Cellars. Do keep me posted, and let me know what kind it is. I may have to review it here.

Be well and have a warm weekend, all.

  25. Al, I missed your pee poem, I see
What could be wrong with chocolate tea?
    It might lure thee
To drink from the toilet bowl and
    That would not be pretty.

    Goes without saying.

morethan, me neither. But it kind of makes sense, given hot chocolate's so good.

  27. I adore chocolate, but a chocolate tea doesn't sound like a good idea to me. I'd much rather have the real thing! Yum, yum! :-)

  28. Sorry, but chocolate tea? Uh, ewww...;)

And did not know that wild trees could be organic. Advertisers really do throw words together that sound good and expect people to buy.
