The Unexplainable, Sundays in My City

Hello! Welcome to Chico, CA for another edition of Sundays in My City. UnknownMami hosts this terrific tour of bloggers' hometowns. Visit her site to visit the world.

As Spring winds down and Summer kicks into gear, some things don't make sense.

Meet Mojo. He's usually more friendly than he appears in this picture. I can't explain why Mojo's ready for Halloween in mid-June. I also can't explain how that pumpkin - which is real - looks fresh as can be. It's been there since last Halloween...kinda creepy...

Next, we see our friend, DuPont. Can you explain his June garb? I'm can't. Sorry.

Alas, some things cannot be fully explained but are simply beautiful. I snapped this a few yards from Mojo. It's the front yard tree where I live.

A wonderful Father's Day, as relevant.

Happy Sunday and new week!

Appreciate the unexplainable.

  1. I'd be very afraid to pick up that pumpkin.

  2. Find an enemy and chuck the pumpkin at them haha, mojo, does look rather ticked off.

  3. my pumpkin died before halloween last year

  4. I have no suggestions for DuPont's outfit, but as dapper as ever.

  5. Spooky! Mojo must be working his magic mojo on that pumpkin.

DuPont's hood makes me wonder if he's into BDSM. Just sayin'.

  6. Pat did a great job with that logo for you - hoarding chocolate? In Mary Pax's Backworlds, that stuff is gold!

Is that a 'see no evil' mask on that horse, or a racing mask? He has a saddle - he's ready for a photo? or a ride?

    Have a great Sunday, Robyn!

  7. Nice shot with the tree.
Hope that pumpkin lives a few more months and makes it to the next Halloween!

  8. What fun if the pumpkin stays that way until Halloween! DuPont IS dapper! and Mojo is cool. Love that photo!

    Happy Father's Day! :D

  9. DuPont's only reminding horse people that flies are not fun for horses.

  10. Is Dupont a racing horse, wearing blinders to keep him calm before the big race?

  11. Appreciate the unexplainable. I like it:)

  12. Thanks for the wishes.
When I look at my two kids, I realize I did SOMEthing right.
    That black cat?
    Holy Great Pumpkin!

  13. I love fall so I love the pic, although I admit that it's VERY odd that the pumpkin is still thriving!

  14. Thanks, all. That pumpkin must be a mutant of some sort. It's not even moldy. But I'm not about to slice it open.

Adam, they usually die after 5 minutes. I don't get it.

Debra, haha, oh no. You might be right. Yikes!

DG, I love the logo too. And it MIGHT be a racing mask. They have horse racing around here, I think.

IT, it could be to keep the summer bugs - flies, mosquitos, etc. - away. I didn't think of that. Thanks.

Stephen, that makes two votes for horse racing. It's in the lead.

Al, you've done tons of things right. Your kids are just prime examples or your gifts to the world.

    Have a great week, everyone.

  15. DuPont is racing. But, I see someone beat me to it.
I have nothing more to add.

  16. Nice pictures, exquisite beauty to these images, beautiful colors!

  17. DuPont is wearing a 'fly mask'. Keeps the pesky buggers out of his eyes. Brought to you buy 'Just ask a cowgirl'.

  18. So far the votes are:

    3 for race mask
    2 for bug mask
    1 for BDSM horse attire

Polls are open until closed. Cast your vote now.

    Happy new week, all.

  19. He's practicing to be a ghost, but hey didn't have a sheet in his size.

  20. Perhaps it's a vampire pumpkin! That looks exactly like my cat. Minus the pumpkin :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Mojo seems totally disinterested in the pumpkin...orange definitely isn't his colour for the year.
Will the pumpkin last till october?

    ReplyDelete
  22. If you think that pumpkin is bad, just remember that there are 15-20 year old Big Macs being studied that don't have the slightest trace of mold or decomposition.

  23. What have ya'll been putting on that pumpkin to keep it fresh this whole time? Mine usually rot before Halloween even rolls around!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Let us know if that pumpkin makes it through the summer. Something strange going on there. Maybe Mojo knows.

  25. Hi Robyn,

I was wondering why you hadn't posted for ages. The answer is that my blog reader deleted your blog! Mojo is acting like a cat who wants a witch to adopt him.

  26. Mojo looks a lot like my cat Leo. I can't get Leo to pose for the camera though - you did good.

  27. oh, that last photo is terrific!
love the sun rays through the branches.

    mojo is cute!

    sending big hugs~

  28. Thanks, all. I'll keep you posted on the pumpkin.

It seems the final vote is the same as earlier, and DuPont is wearing a race mask. Then again, it could be a bug protector or a BDSM mask. (?)

    Be well.

  29. Love the pics! I'm also wondering what kind of genetic mutation that pumpkin has since I have never known one to last much past Halloween. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'm amazed that pumpkin has lasted so long. I think it's the California weather working it's "mojo" along with mojo the cat.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Mojo's mojo must be preserving the pumpkin!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh wow. That Pumpkin bust have been stuffed. Or crystallized. Or something. I've learned since we've added horse product to our store that this is the time of year for flies. So maybe to guard off flies? I feel bad for him though. It's quite bland comparatively speaking.

  33. Hi Robyn,

I'm way behind and only just got to your previous post. This previous post :)

I like Chico and your photos are fascinating. I wont horse around with my comment. Just wondering how the parade in my honour (honor) sorry English spell check, are going?

And I want to thank you for your Father's Day wishes. Once again, a special mention to all the single dads.

    Gary :) x

  34. Very interesting town you got there!
The pumpkin was grown by Monsanto.

Mojo is the spawn of Satan.

DuPont is still feeling the Cinco De Mayo vibe (based on his saddle blanket anyway).
    I can't explain the tree...

  35. Pat, I think you've nailed it. And we'll stick with appreciating the unexplainable beauties of nature.

    Thank you, kind folks.
Be well. Keep a smile and a stash of chocolate.

  36. That pumpkin is obviously haunted. That's the only logical explanation.
