Clint Eastwood and Chocolate, The Things We Do For Love

Dear Sillies,

At long last, summer's over. I hope the change in seasons brings you renewed vigor and hope, pretty leaves and sunsets, and yummy treats.

JT bought this for me. Its weirdness beckons a review. Hammond's Chicken and Waffle with syrup chocolate bar. I mean, what the heck? Let's pack everything for a full meal into a little chocolate bar. We both tried it and . . .

We both failed to detect the chicken, or the waffle, or the syrup. It was salty, a salty and crispy chocolate bar. It contains chicken soup mix and vanilla wafer cookies. Let me break it down for you: It's bad. Don't try it, my Sillies. I'd give it a 1 out of 10.

Now let's talk Clint Eastwood. Remember him? The hot studly man who's made 40+ movies. He's 91 now. And because I - gosh, golly - love JT, I agreed to see Cry Macho with him. It's Eastwood's latest flick. Let me break that one down for you, my Sillies: It's really bad.

But Eastwood's sincerity and compassion still shine. He's still got it, depending upon how far we stretch the definition of "it." I mean, those seductive scenes with hot women half his age - way too awkward. The acting and plot are far from believable. But I gotta give him credit for being 91 and still kicking (and punching and alluring women half his age).  So if you want to see this one, keep your expectations low. JT (dis)liked it equally.

As you gathered, the guy and I are still going and going strong. He's a cutie, right? In fact, a bit Eastwood-esq, would you say? I'm still holding my breath. It'll be 4-months soon . . .

Pretty sure I nabbed a good one this time. Finally.

Take care.

I love you, Sillies.

  1. Fun post despite the horrible stuff you had to endure. That chocolate does sound way too weird. And I have found Clint a bit creepy for many years now - just too old - like shoe leather baking on the back patio for far too long.
But glad you and JT are surviving The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly together (did you like my Clint movie reference?) Cheers my friend and better chocolates ahead.

    1. Very creative of you, Joanne. I think the other other Eastwood movie I saw was In The Line of Fire. That one's excellent. Haha - shoe leather baking...excellent analogy. Yeah, it was difficult to watch him, except close ups on his lovely eyes.

  3. You make a cute couple! Thanks for your fearless reporting on chocolate and Clint Eastwood!

  4. You're the second person to say that about Clint Eastwood's latest movie. I am a hug Eastwood fan but yeah, I am going to wait to watch this movie when it's out on On Demand and I'm bored to death, or something.

Salted chocolate does not sound appealing to me AT ALL. As a chocolate aficionado I whole-heartedly dislike the "salt in/on chocolate" Ever. :)

4 months friend? Aww that's so awesome!! I'm so happy for you!! You deserve it!!

    1. Well, I really should say that I WASN'T BORED during the movie, Yvonne. I should've mentioned that. It's more a matter of many an eyeroll. But he doesn't build suspense and keep the audience entertained.
Thanks, love. Be well and keep your spirits up.

    2. oops, I meant that he DOES build suspense. He's still got it in some ways.

  5. So happy you and JT are still good - you've reached the picture-on-blog stage, that's serious!!

I did wonder how Clint Eastwood could make any kind of film at his age, but I guess the answer is he hasn't quite.

And that chocolate????? Why, just why?

    1. I know, Annalisa. Why? Aren't there enough combinations with chocolate in the world? And if you're going to do something like that, get it right. This is so far off the mark.
Aw, Eastwood. Credit to him, though he's a bit deluded.

  6. JT IS a cutie. Happy 4 months! That chocolate bar sounds absolutely hideous. What an idea. Do you suppose anyone likes it?

    1. Haha. It's been at a particular candy shop for a while. I'm likely the only one who's ever bought it. But why did they even make any of those in the first place, Mitchell? Ugh. Never again.
Thanks for affirming that my guy's a cutie.

  7. Chicken soup is good as are wafers and chocolate. In one crunchy bar? I give you points for being willing to bite into it. You are much braver than I, Robyn!
    Four months! Yayyy!

  8. Four months - that's great!
I'd heard Cry Macho was a slow film. Still want to see it because it's Eastwood. Dude is impressive!

    1. I thought of you, Alex. I'd love to see your review. Yeah, it's Eastwood at 91 years old! That's damn impressive. He hasn't lost it, but he does look approximately 91 years old in the film.

And I hope you WILL keep JT.

    1. I plan to keep JT, EC. Sometimes things don't go as planned, but we hope these plans pan out.
      Love to you.

  10. Eastwood has made some good movies and a few bad ones. I'll skip this one on your advice.

    1. Yeah, I don't think it's a must-see. We went knowing it's likely his last. It does have heart, and some adorable girls in the movie. There's that.
      Cheers.

  11. Congrats on almost 4 months.

That candy bar sounds awful and I usually like candy.

I plan on seeing the movie but wasn't expecting much from it.

    1. Perfect. You'll be fine then at the theater. Popcorn helps. It always does.
      Thanks, Mary.

  12. Your fella looks very nice, love bug. Enjoy him. And get a picture of his naked butt in bed. I probably won't see the Eastwood movie. I congratulate him for carrying on but I've never been a fan.

    Love,
    Janie

  14. Dear Robyn, I looked up Hammond's Chicken and Waffle with syrup chocolate bar and was surprised it came about 100+ years ago after several food trucks collided. Happens sometimes. Glad to learn you're doing well!
