Rest In Power, Ruth Bader Ginsburg

 Dear Sillies,

In its 212 year history, Ruth Bader Ginsbug was the second woman to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court. The first, Sandra Day O'Connor (who retired from the bench--who knew you could do that?).

As we know, RBG fought cancer until she lost that fight last Friday at age 87.

I won't try to summarize what RBG did for justice, law, women's rights, and the rights of people who are marginalized. It's a tremendous amount. I didn't realize what a hero she was, until now. (I often don't learn about people's influence until after their passing).

We've lost too much. It's our turn to carry the torch.

   Rest in Power, RBG.

“Women will have achieved true equality when men share with them the responsibility of bringing up the next generation.” RBG

“People ask me sometimes… ‘When will there be enough women on the court?’ And my answer is: ‘When there are nine.’” RBG

Please be well, my friends, and know that you are worthy.

I love you.

  1. She will be a great loss to justice in the United States, that's for sure.

  2. She enriched the world with her presence and example and we are diminished with her passing.

  3. World made more sense with her in it. You don't get an Age Of Reason without such people.

  4. She was a small woman with a huge presence. Excellent tribute. We shall see - I'd say we aren't off to the best start to ensure her legacy. Big sigh my friend. Take good care.

  6. Sadly, we can't even morn her death for it is setting up one of the ugliest battles we've seen in a long time in the Senate. She will be missed.

    1. It keeps getting uglier.
Having someone's memory tainted in this way, adds tragedy to tragedy. We can only hold tight to all that matters most.
      Thanks, Sage.

  7. Learning of her passing saddened me immensely. She accomplished so much during her lifetime and her fight to hang on shows her true grit and selflessness. With her warrior like presence, she fought for the unjust and did not give up until she was victorious. God bless her and her family. God bless us all. RIP RBG.
