November 9th, 2016, And The Orange Sun Rose

My friends,
I want to post something, to put out some message . . . it's not easy. I have only the same shock and spectrum of painful feelings you're experiencing, combined with a twisted knot in my belly. So for now, and it likely need not be said in this openhearted niche of the Internet world, I'm simply re-posting my facebook status/message.

Dears,
Quit the blame! It's destructive. The best we can do is continue to fight on the side of kindness and fairness. I've been cyber-assaulted for nearly a year by "Progressives." I've been loved and supported by some "Republicans." Every thoughtful person weighed their decision heavily and made it. Respect and don't judge them for it. Clearly, political parties and labels have morphed into globs of ambiguous mess. The best we can do is help each other survive, support each other, be kind and loving. I'm not trying to go all corny, preachy, or idealistic. [I'm too cynical for that.] I AM trying to work my own way through this. We need each other. We can't let fear and evil win. Faith, Love, Hope, Breath. I love you all.

Wait, dear bloggies,
Two more things.
1) One thing to celebrate - It's Bryan Pedas' Birthday. Think of all the dark humor this adds to his special day. I'm so sorry, Bryan. I love you; we all do. You've been an amazing friend.
2) I've been accused of being a "provocateur" because of arguments with some "left wingers" who don't appreciate my mini-lectures about kindness. I didn't know the word, so it required a search in Google Images. Whoa. I've never been so flattered by an insult. This photo isn't even from that page - those were too scandalous to post.

We're in this together. Let's hold each other up.
Love to you.

    1. True, Holli. It's bringing out the best and worst in people, and we've only begun to see what people are really made of - for better and for worse.
Thank you. Many Hugs to you! xoxo

  9. Facebook is not a friendly place today. Family members getting deleted and others getting rude about the person deleting people. Which, she warned people several times not to come on her page and tell her why Trump was so great or badmouth Clinton. Suffice it to say, I tried to lighten the mood by linking Another One Bites the Dust by Queen. A few people seemed to like it. Others got all serious and talking about not being able to have an opinion. Robyn, I had to delete Freddy. It is seriously making my head hurt.

  10. I think we all are losing our grip on a few things. First, like I said on my blog, the sun is still shining, birds still singing, etc. Second there has definitely been a clash between those who have no sense of humor (ie think some immature gloat or spiteful insult is funny) and those with no sense of humor (ie those who take this WAY too seriously and think that their candidates loss is a personal insult). When did we stop being grownups who can say, "Well, I'm still here and have food on the table?" A lot of Republicans thought the world would end when Barack Obama was elected (Glen Beck being one, he admitted today), and guess what. A lot of Dems feel the world will end with Trump- many of them the same ones that thought the world would end with Reagan.

Now me, I think stuff like posting "Another One Bites The Dust" is funny. I thought the meme that had Hillary with a couple of Saudi big-shots with them saying, "You realize we will need a refund now" was funny. And I think the Trump "Godzilla" gif is hilarious. Geez, people, are we letting this crap take away our ability to laugh? Ever since we invented social media everything's been life or death, and it's stupid.

Look guys, Hillary lost, she didn't die. Trump won, he didn't put an eviction notice on your door. Are you still breathing? Good, 'cause that means there are better days ahead.

God help me for quoting Billy Joel, but "The good ol' days weren't all that good, and tomorrow's not as bad as it seems."

Now, you may all slap me with the "easy for you to say" replies. I can take it, I promise.

    1. No hon, just a big thank you, and more from Billy Joel: "It's all about soul. It's all about faith in a different tomorrow..." <-I might've made that bit up. If not I pulled a First Lady and plagiarized. As Melancholia would say, "She play girlie eyes." Think of all the great material you, Ken, Bryan and other funny people (and me sometimes) will have to keep us clear of writer's block too. You're one of the best, Chris. Thank you.

  11. I love your message Robyn. I'd rather see messages of peace than the nastiness on FB today.

  12. Beautifully said, Robyn. I sincerely hope everything turns out well and that you continue to walk the path of kindness. You are much stronger united.

  13. Ha, thank you for the birthday wishes! Today has certainly been an interesting day.

Love always beats hate, and no matter who's in the White House we good people will always persevere. Right now we good people need to just stop fighting amongst ourselves and need to work together to find positive solutions. I mean, isn't it not working together that got us into this whole mess in the first place?

    1. Definitely, Stephen. I'm never one to say "get over it." We won't. We can't. That's not human. In the meantime, though, we can sort through the mess together, with gentle kindness, or alone. Ultimately, we need to unite with compassion. It's the only way to survive. Thank you.

  16. It's hard to believe that Bryan got to spend another birthday unincarcerated. He has the best luck, doesn't he?
Kindness and compassion are two things we need to put forward in this world. It's a good agenda.

Yes, your country is great not because of one person but because of every individual living in it. Stay strong. Stay kind.

  20. Thank you! This is what I've been longing to see the last few days. I've had to avoid Facebook for months because of the hatred on both sides - from people I love dearly - and I thought after the election was over the rants would too. At least the hate filled ones would. But it was even worse. It pains me to see it. Your message is one filled with hope and unity and I am so grateful to see it. Thank you. This is why I love you!

  21. I so love you all. Thank you. I'm sick right now, and it feels very psychosomatic (induced by our times, like a big strong Orange Plague). It's not about Red vs Blue anymore. Maybe it never was. It's about, simply, respect and good vs meanness and evil. You all know this, because we're all on the same team that has no shortage of the sweet stuff.

I'm slow to respond and make rounds right now. I'll be back with my usual force soon, because it's all we can do - keep being strong, loving, and fierce.

Immense gratitude and tons of love.

  22. Be kind to everyone around you. This too shall pass.

  23. I loved your words Robyn. I have never experienced so much hate in my life. And this is just from family and friends. It's crazy...

  24. Great writing Robyn! I am a total centrist, so I really don't know whether to shit or go blind...

    ReplyDelete
  25. I know. The hate is non-stop, isn't it? At least on FB (as long as we have fb and the social media), we can delete it and/or respond safely. That's what I'm doing, and that alone is exhausting. Self-care just took on a whole new importance and meaning. Love to you all. Take gentle care, every way you can.

  26. Well said! I am so tired of the hate that has run rampant for the last few months, but especially since Trump was elected. As you said, everyone did what they thought was best, and now it's up to us to act like decent, civilized human beings. I only hope it can come sooner rather than later.
