New Year's and Beyond with George

Hello, my friends.
How was your New Year's?

George and I --still going strong after eight weeks, but who's counting?--spent New Year's Eve together.
Italian dinner was prepared by a little Jewish woman,* master of one and only one main dish [cheese-spinach manicotti]. *pointing at self*.
We sipped a bit of wine too. Then we...slept together. Actually, I fell asleep. "It's midnight," he whispered. I pushed myself up and out of a snuggle position on the couch. We stepped outside to watch all of the fireworks that we'd been hearing for hours. We saw none. George and I stepped back in and went to sleep. When did it get so difficult, and mean so little, to stay up past midnight on NYE?

I'm thinking George is a good one. Unlike other men I've written about, he's literate.
He appreciates fine art.

wiener painting at the best Wurst place in CA. It's in Healdsburg - a quaint, upscale artsy community in Sonoma County. We recently visited on a day trip.

Plus, George doesn't do stupid or crazy things, but he likes to watch.

On New Year's Day, hundreds of locals plunge into the near freezing (36 degrees F) waters at Bidwell park, just for fun. This "Polar Plunge" is kinda cool and really cold. George and I watched and laughed.

A SAFE, HAPPY, LAUGH & LOVE FILLED 2015 TO YOU, from me and George!

  1. You sound like you fit well together!
I can barely stay up to midnight as well. Something about getting older...

    1. I guess so, Alex. It's kinda depressing. He's older than me, and I'm the sleepy one.

  2. Midnight? Bleah. Overrated. I see it once a fortnight (voluntary work), but don't miss it on other days.
Love that George is still going strong, and would have done that polar plunge. Swimming in Antarctica is a memory I hug close to myself.

    1. You're a brave woman, EC, for swimming in Antarctica. Kudos to you.

  3. I'm so glad things are going well for you and George. I managed to make midnight on New Years Eve, but just barely.

  4. Sounds like you found a good one indeed, weiner painting likes and all haha they do that polar bear dip around here, no thank you, like my toes not getting frost bite.(and other parts)

    1. Now that you mention it, I'm grateful George didn't take the plunge and risk his other parts getting frost bite.

  5. What? Are you kidding me? We partied until 4 am and then after that we partied some more.

No, no, I kid. Neither of us were able to stay up till midnight on New Years Eve. It was -10 degrees, and icy, and pretty quiet in town, and after a bit of drinking out at the bar we just lazily went home and went to sleep around 11 PM... like the rock stars that we are. Hey, it was New Years somewhere. We don't always have to celebrate in our own timezones.

Also, I have to say, I love the hand pictures. Those are becoming a great feature. So, like a professional hand model, you two should probably get your hands insured for millions.

    1. Great suggestion, BnB. I wonder what this entails. I mean, what if George gets his hands insured and then accidentally gives himself a papercut? Does the owner of the paper-cutter owe him millions, or is he liable? If I beat him in thumb wrestling, is my thumb worth more than his? So many questions...

  6. I'm thrilled that you've finally met a great guy. Not that your disaster dating stories weren't funny... they were, but it's like watching someone fall down. You laugh because it's that or cry. AND it gives me hope that I, too, might some day meet someone nice. Not that I'm looking right now (since mom is doing enough of that for BOTH of us). I just couldn't take the stress. Seriously.

Anyway, I did stay up to watch the ball drop. Barely. I remember feeling all rowdy as a kid. I'm not sure what happened, but I was like, "Thank God that's over. Now I can go to bed." I guess that's what getting old looks like.

    1. I guess so, Robin. It only hit in the past couple years. I used to love staying up, and it didn't take much effort.

There's no reason to lose hope. But I understand, and there's no reason to date when you're not feeling it. Being single is a blessing. I still believe this. Smiles.

  8. Oh, that food looks so delicious! A leafy green dish, a saucy tomato dish and wonderfully toasty toast! My mouth is watering and I'm sure George's was too! Which part of him did you use as a pillow?

    1. I assume I used his belly, but I can't be sure. I was asleep. Happy 2015, silly ape.

  11. I don't understand the polar bear club. The impulse to jump into frigid water is just beyond my internal child who would go to a pool and dip a toe in to test it and gradually ease each body part into the water until it got used to the temperature.
I'm very happy that you seem to have found a good, healthy relationship. Also, if you can buy that wiener painting, do it, as a symbol of your relationship and as something super awesome to hang in your home.

    1. It is a cool, shiny wiener, Pickleope. It's very big and long too, likely worth millions. I'm afraid I can't afford it.

  12. Aw...so happy for you! Happy New Year!

  13. This seems like the best way to spend a New Year's Eve. With someone you're attracted to nullifying the depressive feelings associated with time's progression. Hope your year is rad.

    1. Yes, thank goodness for the option and ability to nullify. A rad year to you too, Fredulous.

  14. I was watching Doctor Who. Laurie was in the kitchen getting something to eat. I said, "Hey, happy new year." She said, "Oh, it's midnight already?" Good times.

  15. It sounds like you had a great New Year's as you were not alone and snuggled even though you barely made it past midnight. Who cares! Isn't it fun to enjoy even the small things like dozing together

  16. YAY for both of you! This looks very promising :) A happy 2015 to you and your snuggle bug!

  17. I'd say he's very mature too, only holding up a thumb in front of that wiener. I know many a men who would try to figure out a way to turn that "art" into something obscene.

Glad things are still going well.
    Happy New Year!

  18. Now, I am certainly the kind of guy who would take the plunge. I could never just watch and let others do all the crazy, stupid stunts. Save some of the stupid for me guys!

  19. It's always a good sign to spend New Year's Eve with someone! I'm glad you two are going strong. Give George a squeeze for me, eh?

  20. Plunge into icy water? Will it help my wrinkles? Will it make me smarter? Will I lose an inch of belly fat? Will I suddenly like Justin Bieber? Lemme think about it. In fact I'll nap on it and get back to you - around 3 a.m.

Ooh - sounds lovely with "boy George". (smile)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yes!! So glad you're going strong and finally got to "sleep" with him. Hahahaha. What a sport!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. So happy that you are happy. As for NYE, I think it's only interesting until we are old enough to legally drink . . . oh so long ago.

  23. Midnight? Bah humbug! Someone who can assume cuddle position without detailed instructions and a map? Priceless!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Aw, you two are cute together. I started to fall asleep New Year's Eve. Craig had to put on a cartoon to keep me awake until midnight.

  25. Hey I was in bed at 9:30 and woke up a little after 12 to come out to the livingroom and give Russell a kiss and hug. He was staying up waiting for one of his kids to text that she got home from a concert OK but finally gave up and went to bed at 2 (text came in at 2:30). Happy New Year to you and George! I nearly did a polar bear plunge back in WA and I regret not doing it. It was very mild that day.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Looks like you had a wonderful time together. I could never do a polar plunge. No thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Happy New Year, Robyn! Looks like you and George got a good thing going. Spaghetti time ;)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Well, you did better than me and the missus. I made it to 10:15 and she was already asleep. After a few dozen NYEs they start to lose their thrill. Besides, I still have to get up by 5:30.

    Happy New Year!

    ReplyDelete
  29. How could you not like a man who appreciates wiener art, and "likes to watch!" George sounds like a real keeper! Oh, and your cheese-spinach manicotti looks delicious!
