Signs of Chico, Sundays in My City

Unknown Mami hosts a picturesque worldwide party on Sundays. Check out some wonderful photos here.

Welcome back to Chico, CA. So glad you dropped by.
Today, I've got three more signs to show you.

Just in case you're in the market for a mortuary, this one is clearly affordable (wheelchair accessible too).

Observe this nicely designed sign on solid wood, words spelled perfectly in bold black paint and stretched across the family's front yard. Yet the house is up for rent and scene is rather desolate. Do you see children playing? Me neither. Do take note: children are undoubtedly playing throughout the world, as they should.

The little sign in front of the barren tree reads "Extreme Water Dangers." I walked a bit further and found myself at glistening pools of tame water. [Perhaps it's extremely dangerous for those who get drunk and take nose-dives off of the rocks.]

I didn't plan on a morbid post. Sorry. I truly hope you have a lively week full of fun scenes and signs, and children at play (for real).

  2. Not sure I'll be seeing many signs, but I'll be hearing lots of children on Monday, when school starts. (next door)

  3. Hopefully I won't be needing the mortuary any time soon, but good to know there is one in your city. And the sign for children is great, looks like a huge sign. Sad they aren't playing there now, maybe the next tenants will have children too. Did you drink the water you found? Nice SIMC.

  5. That poor tree looks like it could use some extreme water. Funny collection of signs.

  6. I wonder if the "extreme water dangers" referred to water that was contaminated?

  7. The first one is hilarious - that one gets the double takes, I'm sure.

  8. Lovely shots and unique signs...maybe they want to avoid trespassers with the second sign...

    Don't drink the water.
    It's extremely dangerous.

  10. Thanks, everyone.

Keetha, you're probably right, in which case the sign should indicate this but does not.

Have a great Sunday and new week, my friends.

  11. Hmm, not sure I want to go to the affordable mortuary. Think I saw a Law and Order episode about that once.

  12. Sometimes I wonder about the people that write these signs.

  13. It's nice that you seek out the beauty and the oddities of your new town. I like seeing other places. And you have to show the bad if you show the good. ~Ames

  14. So, to sum up, the waters have dried up, the children are all gone, and death is cheap. What else is new?

  15. I love your photographs. You really do see the humour in everything. And yes, children are playing everywhere and quite right too. ;-)

  18. I envision a scene:

    "Hey look, a dead guy!"

"How much has he got in his wallet?"

"Lemme see...yeah, nine bucks and some change."

"Awww, crud. That's not enough. We're gonna have to carry him across town to the Affordable Mortuary."

"What's wrong with the mortuary right there?"

"Look at the houses around here, man. You think this guy can afford that? Now grab him by the arms. I'll get the feet."

  21. I think the tree had too much water and died, hence the warning. That will teach other trees.

  22. That extreme water place would spook me. You never know where a raging waterfall might be hiding.

  23. That's fine, I actually rather enjoy morbid posts.

  24. lolz!

Did you take these Robyn? Very observant.. and hilarious!

As long as those children aren't playing near the Mortuary's dangerous water. It's deathly!

  31. Geez...I guess it was a bit morbid but funny too! We have a street here in suburbia with an electronic sign that flashes "SLOW CHILDREN PLAYING" we finally decided those kids should speed up a bit
