Chocolate Tastings, In Her Majesty's (Not you, HRH) Memory

Dear Sillies,
For your sake, and in memory of the dearly departed Queen Elizabeth II, I've sampled some chocolate.
   Doesn't it feel as though the world's lost its loving, tough-as-nails Grandma? What a peach she was! And Queen Elizabeth II loved her chocolate. She was smart, after all. Her all-time favorite chocolate was Bendicks Bittermints, a minty fondant covered in 95% dark chocolate. Woowee.
   If anyone gets ahold of this precious item (even you, HRH), do contact me. I will then bribe you to send one my way and will reward you profusely (even you, HRH).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sorry to take things ugly now, but what the heck happened to Count Chocula? Look at his "x" eyes, and his Bugs Bunny teeth.
   As per my sweetheart of 15 months now (I know, poor guy!), JT, this cereal is "okay" but "they skimped on the marshmallows." Also, what's with Count Chocula's hair? And what the heck are those gray puffy things on the sides of his head? Yikes.
   I can only give this cereal a 4, because the Count has devolved way too far. Count Chocula's enticingly dangerous charm is nowhere to be found.
   I'm now sipping a nice warm cup of Numi's Chocolate Rooibos organic tea. It's pretty good - rich, earthy, with hints of dark cocoa. I actually added peppermint tea to it, which improved the taste. It needs something, perhaps a bit of honey or brown sugar otherwise. I do recommend it, and I give this an 8 on a 1-10 scale.
Keep sweet thoughts and items in your life, daily.
Love you, my Sillies.
  1. I do hope you find some of that chocolate.
    I know that chocolate and peppermint together are popular but they are not for me.
    Stay sweet - and feisty (which might mean adding chilli to your chocolate).
    1. Mmmm, yes, EC. Chocolate with a tad of chilli, good suggestion!
  2. If they are trying to make the Count look woke, they went the wrong direction.
    Simply amazing all of the things Queen Elizabeth saw and participated in during her reign.
    1. Alex, you're so astute. I didn't even think about it. The x's are for "wokeness". Yikes!
      Yes, I found some fun photos of the Queen in a chocolate factory, etc. I just wasn't able to copy and post them. She really was an incredible, irreplaceable soul.
      Thank you.
  3. We have been keeping this stocked up these days... Hershey's - Symphony Milk Chocolate, Almonds and Toffee XL. It should be around $2. Pick one up and try it.
    1. Darnit, Mike. I hate to tell you this. I boycott Hershey's because they're incredibly evil - tied to child enslavement and refusing to budge, despite lawsuits and public outcry. But European chocolate is much better anyway. So I shall hold out until I get some of that, or fair trade cocoa.
    2. It's hard to keep up with all the boycotts. Walmart, chick fil a, and Hobby Lobby are all that I can keep up with.
  4. Britain has better chocolates than us and the Queen's favorites sounds interesting. I love dark chocolate! Stay sweet.
    1. It does sound odd. I think that's why it tasted a bit like coffee too me. Chocolate coffee makes more sense, Diane. Thanks.
  6. Yes, my poor late lamented cousin Betty Windsor loved her biccies and choccies, didn't she? However, she hated my guts, the old bag, and cut me out of her will years ago. I won't be getting even a sniff of any Faberge eggs, racehorses, jewels or good hard cash that the Richest Woman in the World's executors will soon be distributing on her behalf. However, I've made note of "Benedict's Bittermints" and will send out my minion Debra She Who Seeks to see if any British import store here in the far-flung colonial outpost of Edmonton carries such a thing.
    1. Oh sweetie, where's the justice? Bets must've been jealous of you, HRH. What with your never having to worry about putting on a gurdle or panty hose or even a bra when your boobies are quite droopy after decades of being perked up. You wear that crown and you ARE royalty. Bets never had it so good.
      You're most gracious to send your minion out on a mission. The dead Queen never did such a thing for me. I think she's a bit jealous of me too. With greatness comes a price. But we still work what we got. xx
  7. Oh the Queen. I rather fear for the world now. I counted on her to keep things spinning - the secrets were in her purse.
    Enjoy the chocolates you have and adding peppermint sounds yummy. Cheers my friend. Keep calm and carry on.
    1. Ha. But how many purses did she have, Joanne? As many as she had hats? That's a lot of secrets. I actually have no doubt she kept every last one. Bless her.
    2. Hello - at least she has a marmalade sandwich in one of the purses to keep her fortified on the trip to heaven. Cheers my friend.
    3. Always, stylin', that Queen. Cheers, friend. Be and stay well.
    1. The problem is that you (or maybe just me?) can't stop after a reasonable amount of chocolate. Right? Apologies or "You're welcome," whichever's relevant, Mary.
  9. Good luck finding your chocolate. I'm unusual in that I'm not a chocolate person. Give me vanilla icecream anyday over chocolate. I do like a chocolate martini though. People are truly entralled with 24 x 7 news coverage of The Queen day after day. I don't think much of Charles, so it will be interesting to see how the public reacts to him. I always had the impression he wasn't well respected there and he certainly has some big shoes to fill. Years ago I remember reading that she didn't think he was "ready" to be King so she didn't step down.
    1. Hi, Sandy. I never heard of a chocolate martini. Sounds pretty good. Yeah, I think Charles is an arrogant *bleep*. Do you know that he doesn't even put toothpaste on his own toothbrush; he has someone do that for him. They have to get it precisely right. Not fit to be king.
  10. Alas, I must report that my minion has failed, UTTERLY FAILED, to find any Benedicts Bittermints chocolate in Edmonton despite having checked out 4 stores with the most extensive British/imported chocolate selections. But all may not be lost! If my late lamented cousin Betty Windsor's elderly brat Chuck takes the stick out of his ass and invites me to his coronation, then I'll have a look around the stores of Old Blighty (or at least a look through the side table drawers of Buckingham Palace) to see if I can pick you up any chocolate there. But don't hold your breath that I'll be invited. Chuck's no fan of mine ever since I gave that tell-all interview to the British press about his, shall we say, SHORT comings. A two-pump chump if ever there was one.
    1. Bwahahaha. Oh, HRH. Thank you for your tireless efforts to obtain some of the Benedicts Bettermints for us. They make those things so darned difficult to even get close to, dagnabbit. But speaking of Chuck's short comings. I've heard. Camila has to work hard for just one pump from the two-pump chump. She's no winner either. Agree? Such dreaded times with the royalty across the pond. If only you were Queen, we'd have all the Bittermints we'd like. Kisses.
    2. DAMN RIGHT I should be Queen instead of Chuck. OFF WITH ALL THEIR HEADS, if you ask me.
