Autumn in California?

What can I say about the Saturday Centus challenge? It's ever-changing. Here's this week's assignment: create a rhyming lyric to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star within only 32 words. The prompt is bolded below. Blame this one on Miss Jenny, who's off on a tangent, and California's lack of seasons. Please visit the other offerings here and join our wacky class. We have great fun. Have a nice, relaxing weekend.

Autumn in California?
(Sung to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star)

In the autumn you can see

Colors changing in a tree

Not so much, I gotta warn ya

If you visit California

Go elsewhere, you can see

Colors changing in a tree.

  14. Dear Robyn,

I'm so slow at saying thanks, but I want you to know how much I appreciated the card you sent. It meant the world that you would take the time to think of us. Our little miss is back in the hospital with a serious infection and we're here by here bed, hoping for the best.

    Again, thank you sooo much!

  15. Really? California doesn't have a change of season? Hummmmm I didn't know that. We don't either. Oh every once in a while you might see a water maple with rust colored leaves in a ditch going 70 mph. You gotta appreciate them quickly.:)~Ames

  16. Excellent Robyn...so original, brilliant, perfect poem/lyrics and so true !

I grew up in Cali and never saw the beautiful fall colors until we lived in the Northeast...a real feast for the eyes and soul !

  17. Hmm, Autumn in California. You're lucky you can still swim. It's starting to get chily here...and I'd pass on the changing foliage to go to the beach. :)

  21. LOL, too funny. I feel for people that don't get to see the leaves changing much. But at least in the winter your not all covered in snow so that's good, ha!

  23. Oh Robyn, you are so clever!
This one works! It's singable! And you have used the challenge to say something about climate variations!
Why are you in California? Did I miss something somewhere? I thought that you lived on the east coast. Silly me.
    Great Centus!
    Best wishes,

  24. I'll be happy to send some leaves your way once they start turning. 'Course they come with frigid temps. :P

  25. Anna, many people mistake me for a New Yorker. I'm both flattered and offended by that. Must be the feisty Jewish gal in me.

Cherie, I spent the last 19 years in the Bay Area. Loved it but also like my new home. It would be nice to see colorful trees but, as Cheryl and Viki point out, they come with frigid temps.

Cheryl and Viki, great point. I'm acting spoiled. I'll just enjoy others' pictures while basking in the sun.

Laila, great point as well. This is the first time I don't live by the beach. There's a beautiful park with swimming pools and creeks. It will have to do.

Ames, you're funny. Love the water maple scenario.

    Noelle, prayers, prayers, prayers.

Happy new season. May it be a lovely, healthy one.
