Sundays In My City, Chico in July

Unknown Mami
Hello! Welcome to Chico, CA for another edition of Sundays in My City. UnknownMami hosts this wonderful tour of bloggers' hometowns. Visit her site to visit the world.

I've been "cheating" -- posting pictures taken, not necessarily on Sundays, but anytime during the week. Chico looks about the same regardless of the day, though. I hope this post isn't too redundant...On another note, I'm guest posting at my buddy David's today, with a dating story (Mr. Ribald's Epistle) here.

Du Pont is as dapper and patriotic as ever.

You might remember that I previously featured peahens (the less pretty, and female, version of the peacock). I was excited to meet this beauty a few days ago, when he approached my car.  He strolled around long enough for a photo-shoot, then flew to the rooftop of a nearby house.
Here's another beauty. I'm not usually impressed with cars, but this one...wow! It was lounging in the Chipotle parking lot. Seems Chipotle employees get paid VERY well.
Teasing the ducks  Canada Geese (thanks, Debra) with tiny scraps of bread is always fun. One of them actually ate out of my hand.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you're having a peaceful, scenic July.
Happy Sunday and new week!

PS Feel free, again, to visit David's blog for my Epistle date story.

  2. Duck teaser!
That roadster is really cool. I've never been big into cars either, but shows like Counting Cars and Top Gear have changed my mind.

  3. Chico seems like such a visitable (which I don't think is a word) place, love Du Pont haha, the place just looks like such a wonderful place to live.

  5. Looks like a happy place to live. You sure look happy in the photo and I'm betting those ducks are.

  6. Peacocks coming up to you. Employees at Chipotle making all that money. What an amazing place to live :)

  7. Du Pont is a real Yankee Doodle Dandy! And those ducks are Canada Geese.

  8. I thought those were geese but I was playing a chicken.

  9. Thanks, all.

Thank goodness I can edit well after posting. Silly me, I called the Canada geese "ducks." They still liked me and didn't take offense. Thanks for the correction, Deb.

David, love the cake. Sorry I didn't send a pic, but that one's better than anything I would've sent. And thank you, too, for the chance to guest post.

David O., yeah, what does this Robyn know about birds? You'd think I'd have a bird brain.

I do love Chico, and I love ya'all too.

    Be well.

  12. How dare you! Not waiting til Sunday to take all these photos and make a post. Shame, shame! ;)
I have never seen a peacock outside a zoo before. That's neat!

  13. Beautiful peacock and loved the classic car as well. I used to live in CA, but up north in SF and Marin County.

  14. And all this time I thought it was goose poops.

  15. I like that 'car' ! seems exciting to find these around you and not in the zoo or car museums !

  16. It's a toss-up as to which is more beautiful... the peacock or the car. Then again, the patriotic horse is pretty spiffy, too.

  17. DuPont looks as sharp as ever and I love the peacocks!

  18. I love the car and peacock ;D
You live in a beautiful place~
YOU look so cute feeding the geese, no ducks, no peahens, lol!

  19. The only time I see a peacock is at the zoo. I would totally flip (in a good way lol) if one was on my roof. I think they are so beautiful!

  20. Robyn the goose feeder! Your posture slightly worries me though. Have you ever been goosed by a goose?

  21. Pat, sorry, but they're not the most polite of Canadian life forms.

    Ruth, me neither.

JoJo, I used to live in the Bay Area too (Alameda and Oakland). Thanks for the comment and follow!

Al, goose poops? No, but I'll post pictures of that next. Or not.

    Thanks, Wong.

    Susan, we'll call it a three-way tie.

Jeanne, glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for visiting.

    Ella, thanks so much.

Theresa, they're incredible, especially when they spread their feathers. I was waiting for this one to do that, but it didn't. Oh,well.

GB, no, but you're right. That goose behind me was getting ready. Good thing I hopped back into the car after the picture was taken.

    Thanks, all. Keep a smile.

  23. That is quite the spectacle, the car not the geese

  24. Du Pont looks quite dashing, as almost always. :) That car is a beauty!!

  25. One peacock to another:
"What do you mean, size matters?"

    ReplyDelete
  26. That horse is more patriotic than I am. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Also, as a car guy, I very much can appreciate that car. Insert Tim Allen grunting here.

  27. Love your pictures! Out here there was a horse like the one you pictured but the owners finally had enough of the pranksters....seems like every now and then people would dress up the horse. The straw that broke the camel's back was when the owners found that someone dressed it again and had painted the horses shama-lama-ding-dong with bright caution yellow glow-in-the-dark paint. It made the local paper...I almost died laughing.
    Blessings, Joanne

  28. Al, said one peacock to another, "The emphasis is on the second syllable of our kind, you idiot."

Joanne, that is hysterical. I haven't checked (I will now), but I don't think Du Pont has a shama-lama-ding-dong. Great story.

Thanks, everyone. Hope your week's starting off well.

  29. Hey Robyn,

Yes, I have arrived at gone three in the morning. Hopefully, I can leave some semblance of a comment that almost borders on coherent, or perhaps the US, Canada border.

Chico is obviously a better place having you live there. And what the duck! Yay to Canada Geese, eh. Go back to Canada, you crazy Geese.

    Gary :) x
