Halloween Pumpkin Head Horse, Sundays in My City

Hello, there.

UnknownMami is at it again: hosting another glorious week of Sundays in My City. Visit her site to visit the world of bloggers' hometowns.

We're gearing up for Halloween in Chico, CA.

I'm doing that by eating things like this pumpkin 'n chocolate ("guilt free") gelato from Powell's Candy Store. Not the most natural combo of flavors, but it was refreshingly yummy and "guilt lite" (i.e., a mere 200-300 calories short of guilt free).
DuPont, our relentlessly spirited horse, is....um, a very good sport.

Night skies are gearing up for an eerie Halloween too.

This duck (mis-placed)  makes me smile because he/she appears to be smiling. Have a happy, safe, peaceful Sunday and new week.

Thanks for visiting.

  1. I have been wanting to see the Chico Horse for some time. Thanks for posting. He looks a little clownish, but all in the name of the season, I suppose.

  2. Pumpkin and chocolate sound good together.
    DuPont is festive as usual.
That duck is grinning at you!

  3. Must try pumpkin and chocolate together. It looks amazing!

  4. That really is a pumpkin on his head. Someone needs to give him a treat bag for Halloween.

  5. I'm all for anything closely related to ice cream and containing chocolate. Score!

Love the horse. Can't wait for the December photos.

  6. The chocolate sounds good, but I'm not so sure about the pumpkin. Love the photo of the moon and the happy, smiling duck! :D Have a good week ahead.

  7. Eerie shot indeed, poor horse will never live that down haha

  8. I guess Dupont doesn't adhere to the "less is more" concept! That's some costume.

  9. I think I would like the chocolate and pumpkin combo. Even more so if it was 'lite'.

Dupont is certainly ready for the season in all in pumpkin attire.

I think the duck smiling is so cute. It really does look happy.

  11. Loving the shot of the moon! I'm sure I'm in the minority here, when I say that I do not like pumpkin -pie or otherwise! lol

  12. That Dupont. He's a fashionista, a trendsetter, a festive holiday celebrator. He gets around!!!

  13. That's the kind of chocolate I'd like to lick up without chewing, but what's going on with Dupont? Is someone trying to turn him into a poster horse for the town's transvestites?

  14. Pumpkin ice cream? I wish we had that here in Belgium. Unfortunately, my country isn't AT ALL absessed with pumpkin :(

  15. Pumpkin chocolate sounds really different but like the kind of thing that'd take me by surprise and seem really nice, good to see Chico is getting into the Halloween spirit as well!

  16. Pumpkin and chocolate gelato sounds so inviting right now, it makes me wish I was still living in California.

  17. LOVE that shot!! And I now want some pumpkin 'n chocolate gelato :)

  18. Aw that duck does look like it's smiling! Did he try to suggest AFLAC?

  19. I love when animals "smile" at me. I've got a pretty good shot of a prairie dog that looks like he's smiling at me. Even though he's probably just wishing me death for being near his burrow.

Also, pumpkin gelato... yes, the season is definitely upon us for pumpkin flavored everything. Please don't show this to my wife. We already stocked pumpkin flavored beer, pumpkin flavored coffee, and pumpkin pie ingredients... the season's just begun and I'm already all pumpkin'd out. :(

  20. DuPont is probably the easiest going horse I know. Always ready for a Good Time!

  21. Mmmmm to all things pumpkin. It's not a flavor/food used here much, sadly.

  22. Pumpkin and chocolate together? Sounds adventurous!

  23. Pumpkin and Chocolate? Yes Please! That's almost enough to make me book a flight outta here just for a taste!

  24. If a happy duck isn't a good omen for the future I don't know what is.

  25. Funny.
Today at work a colleague insisted that chocolate and pumpkin do not go together.
    I insisted that they do.
I think I shall print out a picture of that wonderful looking gelato and show it to that culinary snob.

  29. Hi Robyn!
Good old DuPont! He can always be counted on to dress for the occasion.
That desert looks pretty darn good, I have to admit though, I'd eat the chocolate first and would try not to mix the flavors.

  30. I really hope Chico PD finds some horses for this season. A shame that they're cutting such an important safety resource.

The duck really does look like its smiling.

    Have a good week Robyn.

  31. Nice photos Robyn. Guess youre all getting geared up for Halloween now. It's becoming more popular here too now. Confectionery companies are loving it! lol

  32. This is the first time that I feel bad for Dupont. There is no dignity in this outfit.
