Welcome to Chico, California. Temps have soared to 106 F.
What's a gal to do but visit...
Bidwell Park,
and follow a man driving barefoot on Interstate-99,
while our town mascot prepares to send his youngin' to school?!
Catch your breath and enjoy the sites of almost-fall.
Thanks for visiting. Happy Sunday and new week.
I'm ready for fall and some cooler weather! It's hot.
ReplyDeleteSchool holidays are over already? That's too bad! The paddling pool is a better place for the kiddies than the classroom right now.
ReplyDeleteI'm ready for Fall to come too! We still have 10 days before the kids start school... mixed blessings on that one, but I think they're ready to go back
ReplyDeleteThat's a good way to lose a foot, dude!
ReplyDeleteScary kids are going back to school now. We never went back until after Labor Day.
I love the regular updates of the town mascot!
ReplyDeleteYou may be ready for the cooler weather but I can't wait for the warmer weather. No school holidays for us until September now. I hope you cool down soon.
I gave it a good bit of thought and that must be like 37 degrees Celsius which is incredibly warm, great photos Robyn.
ReplyDeleteWow they go back soon down there, still a little less than a month up here.
ReplyDeleteAfter living in So. Arizona, 30 miles north of the Mexican border, I can handle the heat. It is the smoke from the fires that bother me.
ReplyDeleteLove ya and please send some cool weather--I'm so ready for fall and College Football!
ReplyDeleteJ
I think the "back to school" costume is my FAVE I've ever seen your town mascot wear!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun horsie.
It's been unseasonably mild where I live this summer, but I'm ready for fall too.
ReplyDeleteMaA, me too. As Teri says, we've got smoke filled skies from local fires too. It keeps us indoors and concerned.
ReplyDeleteGB, Heather, Alex, and Pat, I know. It seems way too early for kids to go back to school. I think with some schools being year round now, they start earlier. Maybe?
DelKing and John, I'll send some warmth your way. Thanks.
YW, I didn't know how to translate that into Celsius, except to say it's pretty darn hot.
Teri, stay safe and indoors.
Tara, it's nice to look forward to fall. Hope it gets there sooner than usual.

Keetha, it's my favorite outfit too. Glad you like it.
Barefoot and dangling that beautiful foot out the car? Racy!
ReplyDeleteI like the Park pic!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe summer is almost over; my kids go back to school the 20th.
Bidwell Park looks very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMollyxxx
106 is mighty hot there Robyn. Didn't think it even got that hot in NorCal.
ReplyDeleteLove the mascot riding the, uh...mascot??
Good gosh! 106??? That's what it felt like here, but I think it was only about 101 degrees. -Don't be jealous. I can't wait for cooler weather!!! :)
ReplyDeleteHere in Austin, we have been running between 103 and 107 this week. Too too hot. That first picture is refreshing!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday!
:-)
Traci
These are lovely pictures of your world...The only with the schooling mascot is that the rider seemed happy to go back whereas most kinds I know including yours truly hated the idea.
ReplyDeleteNice shots--great details; very Chico.
ReplyDeleteLove your town mascot and his costume. Hope you get some cool weather soon, that 106 would melt me for sure.
ReplyDeleteUnknown, yeah, it was a bit shocking to see that. I'm glad I could get a good picture.
ReplyDeleteDysfunctional, it seems like summer just started. Right?
Chuck, yeah, 3-digit weather is common around here during the summers.
Yvonne, I'm only a little jealous. =)
Traci, the heat is miserable. Isn't it? I hope you have good A/C and ice-cream.
Rek, I hated back-to-school time too. The only fun part was shopping for and wearing new clothes. Maybe the teddy bear likes sporting those green shades.
Thanks, L.
Nita, I hope so too. We've probably got a few more weeks of heat, though.
Thanks, all.
Stay cool.

106?? I can't complain, then!! The horse pictures always crack me up!!
ReplyDeleteI've seen where some kids are already back to school. Yegads! We never went back to school before Labor Day when I was a kid. Then again, we didn't get out of school until the end of June. My school district here doesn't start until the day after Labor Day. This is the first time that's happened since I lived here. Up until now it's been the last week of August. In any case, I'm looking forward to going back to work. I'm kinda bored. Which explains why I'm typing this at 12:46 am.
ReplyDeleteI lurrvvvee to drive barefoot. However, I don't dangle my other foot out the window when doing so.
ReplyDeleteAnd, here I sit, still in my robe, with a cup of coffee at my side.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how Mrs. Penwasser is doing at work?
That temperature check! You are making me wild with jealousy. Scotland is beautiful - when you can see it through the mist!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see that the mascot is keeping things current!
ReplyDeleteI drive barefoot all the time. I usually don't dangle them out the side of the jeep though...
Thanks for the insight into your part of the world!
