CHOCO-SMARTS TEST SCORES!!

Welcome back, kids! I have this sweet batch of prizes for the top scoring student and one of you got a perfect score! Here are the correct answers:

(1) The all-time most popular Girl Scout cookie is the:    (a)Chocolate chip (b)Thin mint (c)Do-Si-Do (d)Cutie PaTutie

  (2) All of the following use Fair Trade Chocolate except:
    (a) Global Exchange (b)Divine (c) Toblerone (d)Dean’s [Alex, you should've stuck with TS's original answer. Cheeseboy's wife helps keep Thin mints popular. I don't know how she keeps that perfect figure. She's hot. Have you seen her? Oh, back to the answers...]
 .   (3) Which famous woman threatened to sue Cadbury in May, 2011 for using her name in their slogan: “Move over, *insert first name here*,  there’s a new diva in town.” (a)Naomi Campbell (b)Tyra Banks (c)Jennifer Hudson (d)Halle Berry (Naomi resented being compared to chocolate. Cadbury apologized and I don't think the lawsuit ever happened.)
   (4) True or False: White chocolate contains NO caffeine. Ideally, there is NO caffeine in white chocolate because white chocolate is not made with cocoa. As a few of you ladies astutely pointed out, though, small amounts of caffeine can be found in white chocolate. This is due to cross contamination. So I gave you all credit for this one.

  (5)  In addition to the warm and tasty beverage, Hot Chocolate is: (a)A popular Chicago night club (b)   An English funk and soul group (c)A relatively new addition to Crayola crayons (d)A Canadian children’s cartoon character

HERE ARE YOUR GRADES (The star pupil will be announced last):
Joanne, with a near-perfect score: A
PowderedToastMan, with 6 correct answers (Woohoo!): A-
~~~
This smart group gets B+'s:
TS Hendrik, Lisa, Marlene, and Chuck! Great work!
And a sympathy C+ to Al for the test and wardrobe malfunction. [Please see classroom dress code, Al. No banana hammocks are allowed on school grounds.]
The rest of you fail. Have some chocolate. It'll be alright.
~~~
And now, for the student with a perfect score (excepting #4 which was a trick question), she's as smart as she is sweet...Come on up here, BabySister! You get an A+ and the grand prize!! I'm so proud of you! [Click on her name to visit/follow Baby Sister Platt's fun and under-appreciated blog.]

Back to Basics, CHOCO-QUIZ TIME!

School's just about in session. So let's think about chocolate! In fact, let's test your CHOCO-SMARTS! Oh stop the moaning, boys and girls. You'll have fun. [Maybe not while you're taking this test, but at some point in life, I assure you.] Go on, now, sharpen those #2 pencils. No passing notes or doing that google thing the kids like experimenting with these days. Just put your answer sheets in the comment section or email them to me at Rawknrobyn@aol.com. The top scoring student will get a sweet surprise. (It's a surprise to me too, but I'm quite sure it will be sweet.) Good luck!

Choco-Quiz Results: Choco-Smarts Award!

Welcome back, students!

I have the test results for you today. Yeah, that was a tough one. I'd like to blame it on the lack of support for public school teachers, so I will. I'm proud of those of you who gave it a whirl, though. You're a bright bunch. I'll be recommending you for the Advanced Placement Choco-Class in the fall. Save your appetites.

Here are the correct answers, followed by your grades.

Back to Basics: CHOCO-QUIZ TIME!

Hi students. Thanks for coming to class today. Now, don’t leave. You’ll miss the fun. Besides, Bruno’s blocking the doors. He'll let you escape once you've turned in your answer sheet. So take out your #2 pencils and stop whining. It’s time for a test.

Cheating will not be tolerated. That is, you may not do any research or copy your classmates’ answers. When you’re finished, place your test in the comment box or, if you prefer, send it to my email via my profile page.

Don’t worry, I’ll grade this on a curve. Nothing personal, but I expect the curve will be very, very low.

I will also have this test available for at least a couple days, for your more “special” (shall we say?) peers.

The highest scoring student will receive glorious reward and recognition for their choco-smarts. Any questions? I didn't think so. Here we go. Quiet now. Good luck!

TEST YOUR CHOCO-SMARTS!

Settle down, boys and girls. It's time for a Choco-Quiz. The last one was in February, and the Superintendent told me I need to significantly improve performance. {Between you and me, he didn't do it for me either, but that's not important right now.} Rachel, Kristy, and LifeBeginsat30ty had the highest choco-IQ's last time. Let's see who gets that title and a very special award this time! I have installed hidden cameras on your desktops to deter you from cheating. I know you can't see them. DUH! That's because they are "hidden." Can you say "special"? I knew you could! Now, sharpen those #2 pencils for ole times sake. Keep rotating the sharpener handle over and over again, nervously trying to get your pencil just sharp enough but not so sharp that you crack the pencil tip and have to start all over. And over and over again. Hurry up, though. There's a line of students behind you waiting to sharpen their pencils too. Now, put it behind your right ear or between two left toes (for ole times sake). You can email me your answers (through my profile page), or you can list them in the comments section and take a chance that your classmates will copy your guesses. It's your choice. Have fun!

CHOCO-IQ TEST RESULTS ARE IN!

Settle down, students. It's time to reveal answers to this week's Choco-Quiz. Having perused your answer sheets, I realize that one of three possibilities holds true: (1) This was a very difficult exam, (2) I'm a lousy teacher, or (3) You're an exceptionally challenged group. We'll adopt assuption #1.

Okay, trade papers with your neighbor. Take out your red pencil, and here we go:

1) In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which character jumped into the chocolate river?
B Augustus Gloop! Great start! You all got it right! It's downhill from here, students.

2) True or False, studies show that chocolate is an aphrodisiac. False! Sorry, you all got this wrong. There's no scientific evidence that chocolate boosts sexual drive, but chocolate contains PEA (can you say "phenylethylamine?" I knew you could). PEA is an amphetamine that triggers the release of natural opiates in the brain. PEA levels dramatically increase during sex. But if you want a lot of PEA, cheddar cheese and salami actually have higher levels than chocolate! ..Ghiradelli vs. the O' Deli..hmm..

3) American women buy which percent of chocolate each year? D) 75% Very good, Rachel. We American women have no shame when it comes to chocolate. Do we?

4) Which country produces the most cocoa? C) Ivory Coast Very good, TS.

5) Who consumed 50 cups of chocolate a day to improve his sexual prowess? B) Montezuma

6) People eat the most chocolate (per capita) in which country? C) Ireland! At an average of 19.5 lbs per person, Ireland has the world's third highest per capita consumption after Switzerland (22.4 lbs) and Austria (20.1 lbs). The UK is seventh (17.5 lbs) and the US is 11th (11.6 lbs). You were on the right track in thinking of Belgium, Sarah.

7) Which European country first enjoyed the pleasures of chocolate? D) Spain

8) The French term ganache means D) Imbecile! Very good, TS. It's nice to know you can occasionally score a point by siding with the imbecile.

9) The best way to clean a chocolate stain short of eating it off (I agree with you about that method, Sarah) is C) Rubbing alcohol. Good job, Kristy. You've clearly cleaned a chocolate stain or two.

10) Last but most important of all, this one was meant to be a freebie. I think you must have been anxious to get to recess and declare a tether ball court, though. My sweet hug-a-boo nephew Jeremy is pictured eating Bob's Big Boy Hot Fudge Cakes (ingredients: ice-cream, chocolate cake, chocolate, chocolate, and chocolate). Though he would certainly love Auntie Robyn's double chocolate cream cheese cake without any coaching, he is not yet of age to eat jello shots. Thus, his two favorite foods are B) chocolate and ice-cream. Congratulations to Kristy and Life for taking your time on this one (and getting the answer right, too)! Be it known that there are no alcoholics in my family under the age of 18! PS Did I mention that I really love my chocoholic nephew, Jeremy? Thanks for noticing how darn cute he is.

After recess, I'll announce the grades and winners. There were 3 top scores. * Bell rings * Class dismissed, and check the next post. Run along now.
