Dear Sillies,
Happy September. I hope you're staying safe and not too hot, not too cold --just right.
General Mills has been, like Bernie, consistent. This cereal hit the shells when I was little. I mean, when I was younger. Smiles. I don't remember eating it, though. I favored Frank n Berry, actually (because he looks a lot funner than the Count).
So, just for you, my dears, I sampled it.
I'm happy. I didn't notice marshmallows on the package, but it contains little yummy marshmallow bits like the kind you find in Lucky Charms. Even better, it doesn't have gross tasting brown pieces that far out-number said marshmallow bits. These chocolate pieces are tasty. And it's always fun to drink chocolate milk from a bowl when I've eaten the cereal.
Better still, it's surprisingly "healthy" compared to other cereals [9g of sugar per serving, 0 saturated fats, 23g carbs.] Trick is to only eat one serving per sitting. I've yet to master that trick with anything chocolatey.
I'll give this cereal an 8 on a 1-10 scale (1=yuck. 10=fantabulous!). If they ever give the Count more than one tooth (How does he eat?), I'll raise that to a 9.
Take care of your wonderfully sweet selves, my friends.
Welcome, My Sillies! Together we'll uncover morsels of sweetness in the light and dark. You'll crave chocolate. I'm a naughty influence. {Note: I avoid Hershey's but partake in regular fixes of fair trade and organic varieties.} Please enjoy a ravenous sampling, and may you fast become addicted. Cheers to all things sweet. That, Dear Sillies, includes you.
Some of the best things in life are chocolate.
ReplyDeleteNo doubt.
DeleteThank you, my dear.
The count sure must do the trick, one tooth and all.
ReplyDeleteRight? I wonder what his secret is. I might need to find out up close and personal. On second thought - heck no.
DeleteThat was always a favorite of mine when I was a kid!
ReplyDeleteIt brings back good memories, right, Alex?
DeleteThanks for stopping by.
I might have to buy a box. Ray's a Cocoa Krispies man. But I noticed on your box - it says Free Stencils. That's a bonus selling point right there! Have a good first week of Sept. Still too hot in TX. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteUgh- sorry about the heat. Same here.
DeleteThe "free stencils" refers to a website address wherein you can find free stencils. Kinda misleading, but it's still a fun box and yummy cereal, Joanne.
I've never in my life eaten Count Chocula cereal or any of those other super sugary ones like Lucky Charms etc. They were not part of my childhood so I never developed a taste for them. Does that make me underprivileged?
ReplyDeleteNo, it makes you healthier than the rest, Debra.
DeleteCheers.
I used to love all 3. I think it was the graphics that drew me in. My favorite flavor-wise was probably the Count Choc. though I do remember really enjoying the other two as well. :)
ReplyDeleteI never tried Boo Berry (That's the third one, right, Rosey?)
DeleteAlways happy to see you, my friend.
Be and stay well.
And I didn't know that it ever left. Maybe that's because I've never eaten it.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I don't think it ever left for good, but it's seasonal. They put it out to celebrate Labor Day, I'm thinking. =) Unless we're supposed to celebrate Halloween two months early.
DeleteLove.
Seems as if it would be more of a Halloween thing.
DeleteI also was more of a Boo Berry kinda girl. Though, truth be told, I'd only get to eat it at a friend's house. My mother only bought Cheerios, Life, and Raisin Bran. Complain about that and you got oatmeal.
ReplyDeleteYou got the choice between boring, boring, and boring. Or more boring. Bummer for you, but you had a smart mom. Actually, Life isn't bad.
DeleteCheers, Elizabeth.
I wonder how shredded wheat would be with chocolate?
ReplyDeleteHm, that doesn't quite sound right. If I find that in the market, I'll give it a try, Jeff.
DeleteThanks.
I just had some this morn. It is yum.
ReplyDeleteThanks, RR.
The Count from Sesame Street was supposed to be the original mascot but failed his drug test.
ReplyDeleteHe should've eaten that poppyseed muffin!
DeleteI remember eating this years ago. You can't go wrong with chocolate marshmallows.
ReplyDeleteYou're right; you can't go wrong.
DeleteThanks, Connie.
I don't know that I've ever seen that cereal. I'll have to look the next time I'm at the store. I eat Cheerios, have for YEARS! I too like to drink the milk from the bowl after all the cereal is gone...it's a bit sweet from the honeynut cheerios.
ReplyDeleteHoneynut Cheerios - that's a good one. Of course, I prefer chocolate cereals.
DeleteThanks for dropping by these days, Sandy.
My brothers were raised on this stuff, with Fruit Punch ("real Vitamin C!!") to wash it down. They're both strapping handsome fellows. It proves to me that there is no logic or justice in lie.
ReplyDeleteNone whatsoever, nor is there any "real Vitamin C" in fruit punch.
DeleteCheers, Margaret.
