Nothing
All I can offer is nothing
Nothing is all I can say.
Breath viciously robbed from so many
In an incomprehensible way.
Safely detached from the horrors
I have no words to this day.
With thousands still living the nightmare
I sip warm tea in dismay.
All I can offer is silence
Silence is all I can say.
written by me in 2011 for those who lost loved ones to the 9/11 terrorist attacks
Take care of yourselves, dear friends.
You are loved, and we have each other.
Beautiful tribute for one of the worst days ever.
ReplyDeleteA lovely tribute, Robyn. I'm so sorry for all of it.
ReplyDeleteThat's beautiful, Sister Chocolate Sweetheart.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Nothing more needs to be said. Perfect words indeed.
ReplyDeleteAs real to me today as it was fifteen years ago. So much hate in the world.
ReplyDeleteIndeed we writers are stopped in our tracks. Excellent poem
ReplyDeleteIt was, & still is, hard for me to fathom!!
ReplyDeleteIncomprehensible.
DeleteThere are no words...
ReplyDeleteExcellent tribute, Robyn. Even 15 years later, the horror of that day still leaves us feeling raw.
ReplyDeleteIt does, Connie. Thanks.
DeleteYour poem says it all. Take care.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. We often try to say too much.
ReplyDeleteIt's a struggle whatever we do or say, so less/silence is sometimes the most we can do.
DeleteThank you.
ReplyDeleteMy heart aches for all those for whom every day is a painful reminder...
Beautifully said, Robyn. You're so right that words just can't convey the loss and pain that came with 9/11. So sad.
ReplyDeleteFor those of us who can never seem to find the right words we can refer to your poem. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate that, Jono. Thank you and you're welcome.
Deletebeautiful words for a horrible day.
ReplyDeleteA lovely and honest tribute. Sometimes when you're unsure of what to say. Silence is best.
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard and easy to do, right?
DeleteA time to be kept in our heart as well as our memories.
ReplyDeleteThat it is. Thank you, LD.
DeleteA beautiful tribute. So heartfelt. I don't think anyone who lived through that day will ever be able to let it pass without pausing to remember.
ReplyDeleteTrue. Thanks, Crystal.
DeleteAmen, Robyn.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I loved this. So. So. So. Much. <3
ReplyDeleteElsie and Morgan,
