A Threat to Eat Bugs, More of Your Comments, Goobye George!

I'll start with a bit of sadness. George and I made it to one week short of six months. He's a good man, and I miss him...his nice warm hands, delicious home made meals, and easy bed-side manner. Wink. But we kept hitting the same communication road-blocks, so I said "goodbye" last month. We ended with a hug and no hard feelings. It's back to celibacy, and onto more fun stuff...

There are many more, my sillies, but we're onto a new topic...WOOHOO!! I MADE 700+ FOLLOWERS!!! I should thank Martie, but why? Thank YOU, every one of you! In celebration, I'm going to eat bugs -- chocolate covered ones. I'll post photos of this undertaking, and I'll review the dead chocolate covered insects too. There's a catch. I'll only do this if someone guesses the correct answer to the question below. No research or phoning a friend allowed.
This box contains 14g (one serving) of chocolate covered insects. How many grams of protein does it have? Insert Jeopardy music...

  1. All 700 of your followers/stalkers are in for a wild ride. Woo Hoo.
Protein in that snack? Let Martha worry about mundane things like that. It is much more important to know how much chocolate is involved. And of what calibre...
I am sorry that George has moved to just good friends status, and admire your refusal to settle for anything less than the best. Which will come.

  2. Ah, entomophage, qui se nourrit d'insectes. Since insects have exoskeletons with no room for adipose expansion, I guess they are at least half protein so, for 14 grams, 7 grams of protein. Everything else I know is French or incorrect, which is why I use only the first 3 letters of my name. Mon Dieu, I have neglected the weight of the chocolate!

    1. A very well-informed, educated, intelligent guess, my friend. Also very wrong. Sorry. Do play again. Smiles.

  3. 8 grams.

I'm sorry George has moved to friend status; sending chocolate-covered hugs.

  4. I am so sorry about you and George. I literally said out loud, 'Nooooooooooo!' :( But I know if it was not working out and there were the same issues, it had to be done.

As for the chocolate covered bugs......can I get an EWWWWWWWWW. There's just no way. I don't know the protein off the top of my pointed little head but I know that it's pretty high. Still, there have to be less gross ways of getting protein.

    1. Oh, JoJo, you're a good friend. Thank you.

So far, I don't have to eat them. WOOHOO!

  5. Awe I like your sentiments about George. Geez, I would say those chocolate covered critters pack about 10 grams of protein.

Good guess, but it's not correct.

  6. I've eaten crickets before, roasted and salted, but that's it, not even any chocolate. You can do it without vomiting, I assure you. The trick is to think about anything else other than what you're eating. That might be tough when one of their legs gets caught in your teeth, but it's the only thing that helped me.

    1. Haha. Thanks for the leg-caught-in-teeth image, Pickleope Von Pickleope. You're the best. Roasting sounds divine, though. I wonder if I can make some sort of fondu with these babies.

  7. I'm really sorry about George! Bummer.
Congratulations on seven hundred followers, Robyn.
As for protein... I'll guess ten grams.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Oh, I'm sorry about George :(

My guess is 6 grams of protein.

  9. Sorry about George. Since I will never...and I mean NEVER...be tempted to eat chocolate covered insects I really don't give a fig how much protein is involved. Still...for fun....4.5 grams.

    1. I like your guess, Delores. It's wrong, but it's a good one.

  10. Zero grams protein because I would throw it up, thus absorbing zero. Sorry to hear about George. Nuts. I mean, not about George's nuts. Anyway, lots of love and hugs to you. I have dogs now and eat more chocolate. But not chocolate with bugs.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Thanks so much, MF. It's more chocolate, no nuts, and no dogs for me.

  11. Bummer about George. Sorry it didn't work out. But are you sure you want to eat chocolate-covered bugs?????

    1. No, I really don't want to eat them, Debra. So far, I don't need to. Still awaiting the correct answer. Yeehaw!

  12. First, I'm sorry that things didn't work out with George. He had nice hands:)

Second, to answer your question about the number of protein grams in that bag... NOT ENOUGH. Please don't eat that, Robyn. What meanie in your life even bought these for you????

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I'm the meanie, Robin. I thought it'd be a fun, wild thing to do if I got to 700. I'd told George (I bought them before the break-up) he would be the photographer. He wasn't too excited and made me promise HE wouldn't have to eat any.

  13. so you going to go from George to Jerry? Hopefully not Kramer lol sorry things didn't work out. Enjoy those bugs

    1. If I had to pick one of those characters, I'd go for Jerry.

  14. Sorry George didn't work out; on to bigger and better things (guys). Math was my worst subject in school so I won't try and guess the grams.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Sad to hear that George didn't work out but you kept yourself busy with the A to Z. Communication is the key and I say kudos to you for knowing what you want and don't want. There would never be a day where I would eat insects even if they are covered in chocolate. I will say an astounding 25G. I know I am so wrong

    1. I appreciate your words or wisdom and support, Birgit.

Yes, you are so wrong. But thanks for guessing.

  16. I'm sorry about you and George. Maybe you should make him eat the bugs instead. I'm going to avoid the protein guessing, though. A long story about a dream I had with a quiz show, Bob Eubanks, and a word that became my son's most hated nickname....

  17. I'm guessing your followers are in jail somewhere - ex roomies of Martha. So good for you! Very sorry about George, but he proved that there are nice men out there. So a little break, and I bet someone worthy of you shall show up. You are welcome to branch out and visit TX - I have no fix-ups but you can look for cowboys if you wish. Um... protein guess - ugh bugs - um 18 grams.......not sure if enough chocolate could persuade me to consume. Good luck.

    1. Cowboys aren't really my thing, though they are pretty cute in those tight Levis and all. I'd love to visit you and TX sometime, though. Thank you, Joanne.

Nope on 18g. But thanks for playing.

  18. Congrats on 700 followers! And thanks for the awesome comment on my blog. There is no way in hell I'd eat bugs...chocolate or not! My guess - 20g of protein. Ugh!

    1. Thanks, Bouncin Barb, and thanks for bringing me to 704. Woohoo! And thanks for guessing wrong. It's not looking as though I'll be eating bugs anytime soon. =)

      Delete
  19. PS Hint: The bugs consist of 14g total, so the amount of protein is X grams, and X is less than 14 and more than 0. =)

    ReplyDelete
  20. I really want you to eat those insects, Robyn, because I know how good they are for you! Locusts are about 50% protein when dry, but these ones are covered in chocolate. Damn! I'll guess 4 grams. Very sorry to hear than George has moved on - love ain't easy, that's for sure.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. A well-reasoned guess, GB. Wrong. But I'm going to lookout for chocolate covered locusts now. They're higher in protein than just about any non-meat food item.

Thank you for the support, GB. Love sure is hard. A few of the lasting couples I know had an "He/she is so easy to be with" feeling. Maybe that's part of knowing it's right - i.e., when it feels easy (at least at first).

      Delete
    2. Well, good love is hard, anyway.
      OMG, I can't stop myself.
      Forgive me.

  21. 5 grams? Eventually one of us will get it I hope. I know they will be tasty and good for you. I figure it would be like a Twix. Both crunchy and chocolaty.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Not 5g, Jono. Thanks for trying. They don't have caramel like Twix, but they surely have a crunch (little knee-caps of the critters). Smiles.

  22. I've heard that chocolate covered bugs are pretty tasty. But, that was according to Brian Williams. Sooooo....
Sorry to hear about you and George. You sound okay with it, which is good. In fact, so okay that you're willing to eat insects.
    Soooo.......

    1. Haha. I may just send them to Brian, Al. Fortunately, nobody is guessing right.

  24. Sorry about George, but if it had to end, I'm glad you bowed out gracefully. Of course, I wouldn't expect anything less from you. As for the chocolate covered insects, I hope there's a catch. No amount of flossing or gargling will ever get the taste out of your mouth. In this situation, even chocolate won't help.

      Whew!

  25. Awe, that's too bad about George! But very cool of you both to part amicably.

As for the bugs, there just isn't enough protein to make me ever want to try one. I'll look forward to your review on them though :)

    1. Thing is - and I'm giving another hint, in case anyone reads this - they have hardly any protein at all. But, Theresa, I don't even have to worry about it, since nobody guessed right.

Thank you for your kind words.

  26. That's gross. Doesn't that bug you?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I've eaten bugs but not on purpose. We have lots of gnats in upstate New York. Open your mouth at the wrong time and you have a mouth full of live protein. No chocolate to help wash it down. I am not even going to try to guess. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

  31. I'm so sorry things didn't work out with George. That just means there will be someone better out there for you. But it sucks in the interim.

I think you're crazy for volunteering to eat those ugly, disgusting bugs, BUT...I'm going to guess 2 grams.

  32. I don't know if it's true, but there's this report that says that there's at least 8 insect parts in every chocolate bar. So... on the plus side, you've already eaten plenty of chocolate covered bugs?

    http://jezebel.com/5898607/all-your-food-is-full-of-bugs-there-are-bugs-in-your-mouth-right-now

My guess is 9 grams of protein. And I hope I'm wrong.

    1. I heard that we eat lots of bugs, unintentionally. I believe it. I looked at this link, BnB, and it starts off mentioning "beaver anuses"...Hmm, okay...I'll just said that I read no more. LOL. Thank you.

9 grams is wrong. Thank you for that too.

  33. Two questions...
    1 - Is it a whole number?
2 - Do we get more than one guess?

I'm going to guess 1 gram.

  34. Oh and also, sorry about the break-up :P

    ReplyDelete
  35. Infinity grams of protein. I prefer bug flavored chocolate but that is just me. Are you surprised to see my name in your comments? Me too. I thought I read up on my favorite blogs. It has been too long.

Michael, oh Michael. Congratulations, DAMNIT! You guessed right! Crap. I thought I was free to do anything but eat them babies.

  37. Sorry to learn about George. But I don't understand why it has to be back to celibacy. You can always just be a slut, can't you?!? Anyway, please don't eat the bugs!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Oh dear - just getting to this post. Sorry to hear about George - might it be over exposure to Martha? You, not him.

Put the bugs on cupcakes for a garden party... play cricket!

  39. Sorry to hear it's over with George. He had nice hands.(or so it seemed from his pictures). On to better things. :)

That picture of the chocolate covered bugs made my stomach lurch a bit.
