Welcome Back to Chico, Sundays in My City

Unknown Mami hosts a very scenic worldwide party on Sundays. Check out the other offerings here.
Today, I present a bit more of Chico, CA.

Welcome to Chico, where:
It's not uncommon to park next to a boat. (Hint: My car is the non-boat.)

And you can find some of the world's weirdest bumper stickers.
(This one reads "Guns kill people like spoons made Rosie O'Donnell fat.")??

But turn around and you will see nature at its best!
We're now at Bear Hole in Upper Bidwell Park.
Thanks for visiting Chico, California. Have a great Sunday and new week!

  1. I guess the bumper sticker is implying both are means to an end?

  2. The question then begs, "why do boats get the best parking spaces"?

  3. Upper Bidwell Park looks like the kind of place you might meet a rattlesnake. I think I'd enjoy it best riding on a mule with a sombrero on my head.

  4. Wierd bumper sticker- I get the point but really dont know why anyone would choose that comparison...

  5. I would love to go hiking in that park. Gorgeous scenery.

  6. I want to visit Chico now! I like places where boats and cars co-exist in reasonable harmony. Not unlike guns and spoons?

  7. I live in Santa Barbara and so I chuckled, I too often park next to either a boat or a trailer, both of which take up two spots and make it tough to park LOL.

  8. Bear Hole looks Brilliant!

Don't forget to enter my tattoo competition

  9. i think i will love Chico. thank you for showing us your country.

  10. Chico looks a bit quirky...like that TV show about a town in Alaska. I think it was called Northern Exposure. I loved it too! Too bad they took it off!~Ames

  11. that is a ridiculous bumper sticker

  12. Hey Sunshine--Have you seen the movie "Buck"? Wonderful flick AND some if it is filmed near your 'hood!

  13. Bossy Betty, thanks for the movie referral. Alex mentioned it too, quoting a line from it in a recent post. Now, I must go rent it. The original Robin Hood was filmed here too.

Timothy, thanks. I fully agree. It makes no sense and is ridiculous.

Ames, I loved Northern Exposure too and visited the town in WA (I think) where it was filmed.

Oceangirl, thanks. It is very pretty though I miss the ocean.

ADSL thanks. It is gorgeous. I'll drop by when I'm able. (Gotta run to work shortly.)

Audrey, I LOVE Santa Barbara. Sorry you can commiserate about the parking. Thanks for stopping by.

    Laurie, good point. Thank you!

Tara, it's got so many great trails I've yet to explore. Thanks.

Cestlavie and Alex, I don't. I understand (I think) what it's attempting to convey but guns do kill people and spoons -- well, whether they make Rosie fat is highly debatable.

BG, I think you're right. So far, I've had to dodge lots of poison oak, which is scary enough to me.

Chuck, true. Plus, as Audrey says, they often take up two good parking spaces.

    Happy Sunday, folks!
I've had to work through the weekend so please forgive my delays in making rounds. Thanks.

Have a great day and week!

  15. Would that be a pink camera taking these great shots? These photos definitely look like they were taken with a pink camera.

  16. Ahhh...I could go for a boat ride. Haven't been on one of those in a long time. I'm thinking a cruise might be in order. At least I can dream, right?

  17. That's a heck of a bumper sticker alright. Boats everywhere, that's my kind of town.

    ReplyDelete
  18. That's it! I'm never using a spoon again.

  19. Chico looks cool...and a little weird (bumper sticker). hehe

  20. I do actually "get" the bumper sticker - - - I blame my being fat on the invention of spoons too. Thanks for the excuse!

That and chocolate - - - God's gift to humans.

    ;-)

  21. MsA, you are good. Very, very good. I'm liking my bright pink cheapy Sanyo camera. It takes decent pics too, huh?

Marlene, you know they have midnight chocolate fests on cruises. Hold on, I'm packing my bags too!

Keetha, oh, are we supposed to eat with utensils?

Unknown, that's a good one. None of us wants to look like Rosie (including Rosie) but see above question to Keetha.

John, I used to like her but she got to be too obnoxious. LYMI!

TS, I'm still a bit baffled as there aren't big bodies of water nearby. You have to drive at least half an hour and that's hard to do when you're on a boat.

    Thanks, all.
    Happy new week!

  23. Spoons made Rosie O'Donnell fat???
    Stupid spoons.
I'm eating ice cream with my hands.
    Although, soup may be tough.

  24. is that boat taking up 1 space or 2?

    ReplyDelete
  25. That bumper sticker cracked me up. Who comes up with these things?? Poor Rosie, being held hostage and forced to eat by spoons...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ahh, I feel like I took a 2-min vacation. Thanks for the view. :)

  27. Chico looks SO different from Leicester UK! I wouldn't mind having a boat parked up outside though even if we are miles away from any water.

  28. The only way I can survive there is to look at the beautiful nature and not the idiotic bumper stickers...

    ReplyDelete
  29. My bumper sticker says "Kiss An Artist Today" and once, when I was pumping gas, a man and his wife pulled up behind me. He got out and asked if he could kiss me. His wife yelled, "Let him! He's harmless!" So I did.

  30. What an odd bumper sticker! Such a random comparison. Lol.

  31. Jennifer, it is perplexing. Thanks.

Judie, that's a wonderful story and it made me laugh. Thanks.

Sarah, me too. I just take photos of them for my blog and proceed to enjoy nature.

    Rosalind, it's a unique place.

Laila, thanks for vacationing here. Sorry about the limited parking and weird bumper stickers.

BabySister, I know. I can't believe someone gets paid to come up with this stuff. Poor, poor Rosie.

Baygirl, 2. The truck that towed it is taking up the space in front of it.

Al, I'm thinking I'll try eating soup with a heat-resistant straw.

    Thanks Terra.

  32. Looks like a great place to live!Alot of people here have boats (we don't) my husband is dying to buy one. I get sea sick...maybe it'll be his retreat from me!

  35. Nice pictures and thanks for teaching me about the spoons. I threw them all out so I won't get fatter! W.C.C.

  36. Yeah right. The guns were innocent. lol.. Watch out for those gun tooting freaks! Hey Missy, what ya doin with that there camera? Boom!

    Scary.
    But...
    Nice nature to end it.
