Hi. Thanks for dropping by. I spent my afternoon here at Chico's Bidwell Park where I soaked up some sun and waded in the pool. One kid climbed a tree (the tree cut off along the left edge of this second photo). With lots of long, twisty branches, he chose a good one to navigate. But the lifeguard reprimanded the boy for "not respecting Chico." That was rather harsh and dramatic. Wouldn't you say? I thought trees were meant to be climbed by kids...Only in Chico, I suppose. The boy then took to splashing in the water, so all's well.

Hope it was a great weekend..
Stay cool! xo Robyn
Oh my goodness... is that one of those shirts with a body on it?
ReplyDeleteLooks like a very refreshing, relaxing place to spend the day.
You have great vision, Ms.A. YES. In fact, that's why I took the picture. But I didn't think anyone would notice since I can't really see it in the posted photo.
ReplyDeleteCheers. xo
Trees live to be climbed!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking my Body Shirt pic!
Love ya!

this looks like a lovely place to visit for the day, I am sure... as for the tree climbing reprimand? DC issues the same. The trees are better protected than some of the people and monuments, especially when the Cherry blossoms bloom
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to cool off, looks like a wonderful park.
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful to me.
ReplyDeleteOh and your blog magically re-appeared in my dashboard now.
What a wonderful way to spend a day, it looks so warm and wonderful in your corner of the world.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Nice park. Glad you enjoyed your afternoon in your local park.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I heard of someone being reprimanded for climbing a tree. Sad it has come to the place kids are not allowed to climb a tree.
i agree, trees were meant to be climbed!
ReplyDeleteyou should have climbed with him!
ReplyDeleteIs it hot enough for you? This place looks like a nice place to go and cool off. Not too crowded either. I don't care for crowds.~Ames
ReplyDeleteDude! Let the boy climb the tree! WTH? lol
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday, my dear. :)
What a great place to enjoy life!
ReplyDeleteHave a good week!
I think I heard that "not respecting Chico" line once from an old boyfriend when I was trying to climb him.
ReplyDeleteEvan (my 18 year old bound for Sonoma State in August) now regrets not applying to Chico and wants to transfer there in a year or so. If he does you will be in charge of watching out for him. Prepare yourself, woman.
What a lovely way to spend the day Robyn !
ReplyDeleteI think "respecting Chico" has to do with insurance and possible lawsuits due to accidents/injuries. I am so glad in my time climbing trees was not only fun but encouraged by adults !
I thought lifeguards were supposed to watch the water not the trees?
ReplyDeleteLet kids be kids and just watch the safety of them, lifeguard!
ReplyDeleteOT, thank goodness. How strange, but I'm glad it kicked in for ya.
ReplyDeleteBetty, I'm on it already. Chico is a nice school with some high quality programs. Don't be scared by it's party reputation. I'll watch him at all the parties.
Thank you for agreeing about tree-climbing. It used to be one of life's greatest pleasures when I was a kid.
Have a great week, friends.

Trees were meant to be climbed by all fun-loving primates.
ReplyDeleteI think climbing trees IS respecting Chico. Lighten up, people!
ReplyDeleteI opened up my reader and what do I see, but Robyn's blog appeared in my reader!! I now have 21 posts to read. :) Sad that it takes a little black number to remind me to read a blog...sorry about that friend. :) That park looks very nice, and I agree. Trees are for climbing!!
ReplyDeleteI agree trees are meant to be climbed. what a great place to hang out!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Joanne
I love this park. Looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWhat? The kid wasn't allowed to climb a mature tree?!! That's absurd. That park does look like a nice place to spend an afternoon, though!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Nonna Beach. Everything anymore is about liability.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a nice place to relax.
glad you had a lovely afternoon in that lovely park.
ReplyDeletevery relaxing place to spend a day, indeed.
what's that shirt with a body on it, anyway? hehe.
hugs.
betty
wow I can't make out the short, tho, Robyn
ReplyDeleteI bet you Chico didn't feel disrespected at all and that tree felt loved.
ReplyDeleteHola Chica :)
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your city! Goodness, Chico is one strict ombre! Let the kid climb, he'll just fall in water, he he!
What are trees for if not for climbing? Looks like a nice park.
ReplyDeletelooks like a nice peaceful place to spent an evening...lovely shots.
ReplyDeleteThat looks nice. Id swim in that. The man was probably doing his job. Kids fall out of trees and hurt themselves and they prob dont want a lawsuit on their hands. This is the problem with the world now. I practically lived up a tree as a kid. I often preferred it to my house...
ReplyDelete;)
Thanks, sweet bloggy friends.
ReplyDeleteI loved passing the time on our backyard tree branches. I recently visited the house I grew up in and was sad the tree was no longer there.
