Northen California Road Trip: Sundays in My City

Hi, friends.
I drove through three Northern California counties this weekend, so I'm exhausted but anxious to show you some photos. This post also serves as a late entry for UnknownMami's Sundays in My City. Visit her site to tour the world of bloggers' hometowns. Spectacular scenes abound.
I promised you a photo of the cake at my friends' son's Bar Mitzvah. They did better than cake, though. They had an ice-cream sundae bar. Here's a smidgen of mine before I attacked it. If you look closely, you can read that I was seated with the losers (49ers Table).

Sorry, DuPont. All of Northern California feels your pain.

Charles Schulz Museum, Santa Rosa, CA

It seemed like a good deal, but Lucy said, "I am not equipped to address problems of your magnitude." Then she screamed, "Go away! NOW!" I want my nickel back.
                                                                Clear Lake. Heavenly.
The Blue Lakes were part of Clear Lake until volcanic eruptions and subsequent landslides broke them into separate lakes...I'm not sure when. Tens of thousands of years ago? I dunno, but it's been a while. I have more pictures, but I'll end with these visions of a beautiful world - in honor of Martin Luther King.

Thanks for visiting.

Have a peaceful week.

  1. Hah, Lucy was such a harridan! The funniest thing I remember her saying was 'Never fall in love with a musician' after Schroeder threw her off his piano. Beautiful scenery in the last picture, Robyn. Can you have a boat ride on that stretch of water?

  2. The Charles Schulz museum would be so much fun. The Peanuts are my favourite cartoon. dropping by via SIMC.

  3. I think I would get my nickel back on the psychiatric help too. That was funny!

  4. That was rude of Lucy! She's not even a real doctor.
Sorry Dupont, but I cheered when Seattle won. Now I can watch the Super Bowl and not care who wins that game.

  10. I loved growing up in Northern California. I was sad about the 49ers!

  11. Although I've lived in the Northwest for many years I was still rooting for the 49ers and was disappointed in the outcome of the game yesterday.

  12. I was already feeling hungry and your dessert brought the feeling home. That looks delish.

Did you ever see the Charlie Brown play? It is pretty darn cute.

  14. With my new health care plan Lucy's out of my network, which is a shame, because 5 cents is about all I can spare for my mental health these days.

  15. Thanks, dear silly peeps. The museum is awesome, well worth the $10 admission fee. If you're ever in No. Cal wine country, do visit. Give me a call, too, and I'll meet up with you.

    PS Lucy is so rude.

PPS It's strangely very quiet around here. People are sill in mourning about the 49ers. We're 180 miles from SF, but there's not much going on around here. So we're invested in 'em.

    Be well.
    Stay warm. Drink hot cocoa.
    Love ya,

  18. I miss NoCal. Beautiful pics! I've always been a 49ers fan but I've been rooting for the Seahawks cause i lived up there longer and they've never won a superbowl.

  19. Heh...yeah, I'm sure that horse is feeling the pain right about now. Bummer of a loss. If only that last throw were a few inches higher...

  22. Next time I am in California I am heading to the Charlie Brown museum. I lived in SF for 15 years and had no idea it was so close :)

  23. You would make a much better doctor than Lucy.

  24. I never did like that Lucy! I'd rather see a sundae bar than an open bar any day! Well, most days anyway.

  25. You live in such a beautiful state, Robyn. What a great idea to have a sundae bar. That's way better than cake!!

  26. Well I know what hubster and I are having for dinner tonight. ;)

Poor DuPont...it's hard to be on the loosing side.

The Charles Shulz museum would be fun!! I don't think I could take what Lucy would say to me though...

  27. I'd love to see the Charles Schultz museum. Peanuts is such a part of our national culture. I have several cartoons on my wall of Snoopy sitting on his doghouse with his typewriter.

    Thanks for sharing the pictures.

  28. Sounds like Lucy is still a snarky bitch. Though I would definitely love to visit the museum!

  29. Rhonda, I was there for 19 years and didn't visit it until now.

Theresa, she is a bitch. What nerve!

    Pat, me too.

LD, Snoopy struggled to get the words out - a struggle we can all relate to.

Everyone, yes, a sundae bar is better than cake or an alcohol bar.
Admission to the museum is only $10, and it makes you feel warm and fuzzy, like the Peanuts characters (except Lucy).

    Love ya,
    xoRobyn
