Ode to the Twinkie, the Sequel

Ode to the Twinkie, the original, is HERE.

Remember the Twinkie, that creme-centered snack?

For 4 hundred 10 mill, it's being brought back!

Famed as it was, it was never my fave.

Even stuffed with cocoa -vile, I know-

The Ding Dong I still crave.

So Twinkie, my darling

With a light golden hue

I'd share that I've missed you

But it's simply not true.

Rumour has it, dear Twinkie,

They're gonna super-size you.

Now we're talking, my precious

I'm ready for two!

(I'll take mine deep-fried, a Ding Dong on the side.)

  1. I've always wanted to try a deep fried Twinkie...

  2. I get it. You're hoping to make the Ding Dong jealous by writing an ode to the Twinkie. Not that I have the faintest idea what the Ding Dong looks like.

  5. My Daughters better half will be happy about the twinkie... but I am sure my Daughter would rather have the big ding dong.

  6. Only you, mah dear, could write such adorable, awesome poetry on a defunct snack cake. :)
You're right - that chocolate twinkie looks vile.
Deep fried Twinkies are pretty good!!

  9. Never touched either one under my sun. But with ding dongs and twinkies, throw in a slinkie and thing may get kinky.

  10. Hmm Robyn does this mean that they're definitely bringing them back? In all honesty I think that's pretty cool because I don't think it's right that something that's such a national institution almost, fades away for ever. This is so funny though, love it.

  11. Karen, me too.

MsA and Melly, high-fives to you! I don't know why everyone ignores the Ding Dong. It's so much better.

GB and Betty, if they bring it back, I'll post a picture for you both. Thanks.

Journey, your daughter's another one with good taste. =)

Dawn, I will have to report on the deep fried twinkie should I ever indulge. Thank you, dear.

John, another person of taste. Yes, keep the twinkies outta our face(s).

Adam, really? Well, you're not missing much.

Pat, I like it. I wouldn't trust the three together (ding dongs, twinkies and slinkies).

YW, yes, they are bringing back hostess products (under a different name) this summer. I have a feeling ding dongs will come back too. They're just getting everyone riled up about supersize twinkies.

  12. Oh, this post and the comments are so full of double entendres, it would be too easy to comment on them. So, I'll merely say...
I hope that's chocolate which fills the Twinkie in the picture and not liver pate, Underwood Deviled Ham, or...worse.

  13. And Gorilla Banana doesn't know what a Ding Dong looks like?????
Oh, that was a softball floating over the plate.
    Seriously, I'm done now.

  14. Al, LOL and then some more. I'm thinking Gorilla's treats aren't quite the same as humans'. I haven't sampled ding dongs in the jungle, but I doubt he has access to plain ole average sized ding dongs filled with creamy stuff. ?

  15. haha very clever

It just looks weird! I always wanted one though as saw them in comics as a kid and they weren't available in Australia and still arent, but now I don't want it lol

  16. Anthony, thank you and you're not missing out.

Tahir, I don't welcome, and delete, comments from others who just wish to advertise their blogs. Use your own blog for that. Thank you.

  17. While I didn't go into a depression when Hostess halted production of the Twinkies, I do LOVE them. They would be my fave snack cake right next to Honey Buns (which I think is a Little Debbie product)

  20. Twinkies were never my favorite either. I prefer ding dongs and their cupcakes. I didn't know they came out with a chocolate one, though. I would have tried that.
