My Dear-hearted Sillies,
I'm thinking about you.
Things feel so heavy now, don't they? Sometimes the best we can do is to simply be in this moment. And breathe. Just breathe.
Lemme try again to distract you a bit.
First, Answers to Last Week's QuaranTeasers:
1) What famous woman said this almost 20 years ago: "I just turned 29, so I probably don't have that many good years left in me."
d) Gwyneth Paltrow
2) All the following are believed to be true regarding Saint Patrick except:
b) He was admired for his unique skills as a snake charmer.
3) What celebrity said "Run for office? No. I've slept with too many women. I've done too many drugs, and I've been to too many parties."
b) George Clooney
4) What's the longest word you can make from the letters in "quarantine" besides the word itself? (I don't know the right answer; any guess is good.) The best answer was Geo's "quatrain." Geo, you are brilliant!
5) Freebie: Who's my favorite famous old man, the one I love dearly? Bernie, of course!
Elizabeth and PatHatt each got 4 out of 5. They're so smart, and they clearly studied hard for this test. Elizabeth and Pat, a big virtual gold star to each of you! CONGRATS!!

Let's try another short round, for fun, and because I'm short.

I'm not giving any choices this time.
That would make it too easy for Alex and some of the rest of you smarties.
Please go gently, safely, and with as much strength as you can muster.
Love yourselves.
I love you.
Welcome, My Sillies! Together we'll uncover morsels of sweetness in the light and dark. You'll crave chocolate. I'm a naughty influence. {Note: I avoid Hershey's but partake in regular fixes of fair trade and organic varieties.} Please enjoy a ravenous sampling, and may you fast become addicted. Cheers to all things sweet. That, Dear Sillies, includes you.

I am hoping (fervently) that the current pandemic is replaced by a pandemic of health and kindness.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, EC. Me too.
DeleteYippeee. Gold star lol
ReplyDeleteUmmm err D and True and I'll use initials so some can't cheat and copy my gold star SDJ.
Hopefully all is safe in your side of the world, or at least getting there.
2 out of 3, Pat! Great job. Well, it's a C-/D+, but I;ll give ya a silver star this time.
DeleteSnickerdoodle, false (I don't remember seeing a chocolate Lucky Charms), and Sammy Davis, Jr.
ReplyDeleteMy best guess.
Oh many, 1 out of 3, Alex. But you knew the music question and I knew you would.
DeleteStay healthy.
1 a) Snickerdoodle
ReplyDelete2)False Lucky Charms in chocolate?
3)Sammie Davis Jr.
Good try, Bathwater. You got 1 out of 3, and you're in good company.
DeleteBe safe and well.
B, false, Sammy Davis Jr.
ReplyDeleteIf nothing else, we finally have some sunshine and blue skies in TX - that makes it better. And a walk around the block yields more waves and hellos than ever in my history of living. So, that's a positive. Virtual hug to you!
Well, I managed to fool the smartest of smarties, except on the last one. You join the class in scoring 1 out of 3, Joanne. What can I say? I'm clearly a lousy teacher. Smiles.
DeleteGlad the weather is nice.
Stay warm. Stay well, and keep your spirits up. We're all benefiting.
I wish scientists would discover that chocolate grants immunity to coronavirus.
ReplyDeleteMe too, Debra. What a wonderful world it would be!
DeleteStay safe.
ReplyDeleteYou too, RR.
DeleteThank you.
Sammy Davis Jr. is easy, but I've never even heard of two of those food items.
ReplyDeleteFunny, I thought the last one would be the hardest. What do I know? Not much about many things. Smiles.
DeleteThanks, Diane.
Be and stay well.
I can't answer #1. Nutella is made with cocoa powder. Tiramisu usually has cocoa powder sprinkled over it. Snickerdoodles do not have cocoa powder--at least not my recipe. I would think that beignets are made with cocoa powder, too. #2 I'm going to guess that all those cereals can be found in a chocolate version because the world is better with chocolate. #3 Sammy Davis, Jr.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
2 out of 3, babe. Nice going.
DeleteBe and stay well.
My guess is Nutella is made with cocoa powder. My kids ate it when they were young and I think I'd heard/read that. Maybe :) Be well and stay safe!
ReplyDeleteGood guess, Martha. I was getting a little insecure about that one, since many have been fooled by the name "snickerdoodle." Smiles.
DeleteYou too - stay safe and well. Thank you.
1. I will guess is B. 2. is false, and if it ain't, it should be. 3 is Willy Wonka?
ReplyDeleteI've been busier than ever this past few weeks, so I haven't had time to study.
Well, time to hit the books, Jeff. I know you have more potential. Smiles.
DeleteTake care.
PS You failed, but we'll pretend it didn't happen.
I'm going to have to ride on last week's glory, because I'm not so sure of this week's guesses.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to go with B, the tiramasu...true...and no idea, but I can picture him in my head!!!
It's okay, darling. Once you hit the teacher's pet category, you never leave. Favoritism, ya know. wink.
DeleteNutella, true and Sammie Davis Jr. That was a big hit song back in the sixties and now it will be my earworm for the day. It is a very happy song for these dark days.
ReplyDeleteAn A student! Woohoo. Good job, smarty pants Jono.
DeleteSmiles.
Hey, stay safe and be healthy, okay?
This teacher accepts nothing less.
Goodness, I'm clueless. I don't bake ever, so have no clue about the chocolate. The only cereal I ever buy is Cheerios, and never around young kids to know about those other cereals. Stay well.
ReplyDeleteSandy's Space
Well, no worries, Sandy. I did plenty of research in writing this test. I'm no expert.
DeleteBe and stay well, friend.
My answers are the same as Alex above. Hmm, I'm stumped. Glad you are safe and well, and thank you for providing us with a diversion during these trying days.
