This one looked weird enough to star in a blog post: Enlightened Movie Night Ice Cream - Popcorn flavored ice cream with chocolate bits and swirls of caramel.
Only 90 calories per serving! One serving is ONLY one quarter of this container (approximately one tablespoon). Naturally, especially when weather is so hot, it's a 360 calorie snack. But wait, it has MORE PROTEIN, LESS SUGAR. That's true too! There's 7g of protein and only 6g of sugar per serving (tablespoon). Simple math informs that this contains 28g of protein and 24g of sugar!
The whole little thing is a bit of a stretch, cleverly packaged. I'll give it a 7, and I recommend buying a small sized buttered popcorn at the movies instead. The price will be approximately the same. And that WILL taste like Movie Night popcorn.
Stay cool. Stay hot. Know that I love you, my Sillies.
90 calories is low for ice cream. Not quite sure I'd be into the popcorn flavor though.
ReplyDeleteI agree. It doesn't taste like popcorn until you focus on tasting popcorn, Diane.
DeleteCheers.
Thank you for all the self-sacrificing, brave taste-testing you do for us, Robyn!
ReplyDeleteIt's (usually) my pleasure, Debra. ;-)
DeleteIcecream doesn't float my boat. Nor does popcorn. Or caramel. Chocolate is a whole new story.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your intrepid taste testing.
I'll be seeking something a lot more chocolatey, just for you (and me), EC.
DeleteSo it didn't pop but was okay, real sounds like the better way.
ReplyDeleteNo popping or corn or butter involved.
DeleteIce cream movie popcorn mystery flavor - solved.
But it has yet to evolve.
I'll take caramel ice cream and a big tub of popcorn, please!
ReplyDeleteNow we're talking, Alex.
Deleteyou are brave. I'm not a big snacker at the theater. But sometimes that tub of popcorn just hits the spot. Extra fake butter please!
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, lots of extra fake butter! Who cares about the movie.
DeleteThanks, Joanne.
Who splits a container into 1/4s at a movie theater? I’ll go for the popcorn
ReplyDeleteHaha. True. That part is ridiculous. You can barely find the container in the first place. Nobody's gonna eat only one-fourth of it.
DeleteBe well, Sage.
I'll pass on the ice cream. Lactose problems, boo! But I will pick out the chocolate chunks and grab one of those movie popcorns.
ReplyDeleteNow we're talking. Too bad they don't sell mai tais at the theatre.
Deletelove ya, girlie.
Sorry. Sounds disgusting. I’ll stick to super dark chocolate when I want to be “healthy.”
ReplyDeleteHa. I like super dark too, and dark chocolate. Both are good for the health, right?
Deletexx
Where do you even FIND this stuff? It sounds intriguing and if I ever run across it I might have to try a tub. So far I have always enjoyed popcorn and ice cream separately, but I'll try just about anything once.
ReplyDeleteThis one was at a local market (Raley's). I look hard for stuff to review - it's not an easy task, but someone's gotta do it. Smiles.
DeleteBe well, friend.
I enjoy popcorn with butter! I laugh at calories even if the crap has gone straight to my thighs...and tummy....well you get the drift. I love chocolate ice cream, pure and simple bliss..but not on popcorn
ReplyDeleteYeah, and rocky road's great too. Right? Mmm. They shouldn't post calories on these things - that's kinda stupid.
DeleteSmiles, Birgit.
At my age, popcorn is so evocative of memories --scary movies when my childhood friends spent the night-- fun. I still like it best when prepared at home. Ice Cream? I still need, vanilla in summer, chocolate elsewhen. Chocolate? It's the reason I never wanted to be an astronaut --no guarantee it would be on other planets.
ReplyDeleteHa. That is the best reason in the universe to just say no to astronaut recruiters. Love it, Geo. Love you too. Thanks.
DeleteI think I'd rather skip this and buy some chocolate on its own. Thanks for bravely representing us on yet another taste-testing adventure. Hope you are having a great summer! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Connie. And I don't blame you. Chocolate doesn't belong in popcorn flavored ice cream. It's too upscale for that.
DeleteWhat a clever idea. Like Connie, just give me the chocolate, dark chocolate. Popcorn and my teeth are at war.
ReplyDeletePopcorn and teeth have never been cordial. I remember it being the big thing my orthodontist emphasized as a "must avoid." I'm trying to make up for lost time. But this didn't suffice.
DeleteThanks for chiming in, Susan.
I stopped buying ice cream. If I buy it (unless it's two scoops at an ice cream shop) then I will inhale it faster than you can say "Make America Great Again."
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I know. Me too. But I keep coming up with excuses to buy it.
DeleteLove ya.
