Joanne Faries already won our Giveaway Game, when she guessed that those Tornado Shelter signs are in fact in Denver Colorado's Airport. I went to Denver for a needed getaway, and to visit with friends. One of those friends is someone we all know, love, and miss a lot.
When I first saw their blog, I figured they were obnoxious frat guy types --so cute, couple-y, and confident. Years later, one of them is now a busy Daddy to a one year old. The other has become a very dear friend.
This was our first in-person meeting.
Yeah, I got to meet Bryan Pedas of A Beer for the Shower fame! We had a yummy Vietnamese meal, plus great discourse about our respective lives and creative endeavors. Bryan had to take the blog down, when blogger made for all sorts of complications with his responding to readers. Don't worry, though. He's working on an animated film. I've been honored to be privy to the process, and I'm beyond impressed. It's like nothing I've ever seen. He's amazing, as we know. Very thoughtful and as nice as can be too. The same could be said for Brandon. I think. We just don't know if he actually exists, but I'm told he does. Oh and the cat on Bryan's shirt? He's been asked if that's an actual photo. As in: Is that truly an astronaut cat? Naturally, he responded to the effect of "Yes, it is. Only monkeys get credit for going into outer space, but this cat has been to the moon and back."
There you go. Making the cross from virtual to real life. A Beer for the Chocolate, Life by the Shower, or something. Our connections run deep and keep us going. Tis a wonderful world, this blog land.
Take care of yourselves, my friends.
Love you.
How awesome you met Bryan! That is too cool. We certainly do miss him and Brandon here in the blogging world.
ReplyDeleteThey had the most entertaining blog. It's not the same without them. I'm fortunate for the ongoing friendship. Someday, Alex, may you and I meet in person.
DeleteAwesome you got to meet indeed. Cats in space are a win any day at our bay.
ReplyDeleteHa. Your cats would gain more fame
Deleteif to the stars they went and came.
How wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHi, Mitchell! Yeah, it was.
DeleteThat is so cool and I do miss their entertaining blog!!
ReplyDeleteIf you ever come to Texas ( in the fall or winter), make sure to give me a call.
Yes, I will. I have you and Joanne to visit there. =)
DeleteThanks, Holli.
Hooray for meeting blog buddies. A huge win.
ReplyDeleteIt was a highlight, that's for sure.
DeleteThanks, EC.
Tornadoes, huh? We just had one in my town. I was sitting in a parked bus at the bus stop when it hit. I watched two trees snap in half less than twenty feet from me. I'll be posting about it next Sunday.
ReplyDeleteWhoa. That's incredibly scary. Thank goodness you're fine, Silver. I'll drop by to read about it.
DeleteStay safe.
What fun for both of you. I have yet to meet any of my blog friends in person but would jump at the chance. hint, hint.
ReplyDeleteI'm very much tempted by your hints.
DeleteThanks, Wilma.
Stay safe and well.
Now that is a great match especially since they have helped you with your book from what I remember reading and how wonderful when one can meet a blog friend for real and feel even more blessed. If ever in my neck of the woods I hope to be able to meet you as well. I so miss their blog and wish the6 could renew it but I hope to see their film.
ReplyDeleteYes, they've helped me a lot, especially Bryan (since Brandon is busy being a Daddy). I really miss their blog too. But what Bryan's got up his sleeve it way better.
DeleteThanks, Birgit. I'm keeping your invite in mind, along with Wilma's, Holli's...Cheers.
So cool that you got to meet up with a blog friend. I've met a few too over the years. Great fun! :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's really fun to meet in person. Glad you've been able to also, Connie!
DeleteThanks again Robyn for my treats - absolutely made my day (yes, the excellent Trumpeter's New Clothes plus chocolate ! and more). So glad you met a blog friend and had such a good visit. Very cool indeed!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joanne. You're so welcome. I'm really glad you won. Very well deserved. Enjoy it all, my friend.
DeleteCool! I was wondering what happened to them. If I ever ran into you in person, I'd hold my mace at the ready first, then I'd remember that I'm probably safe since I hide behind a pickle and all. But, if you're ever walking around in the South and some tall goof who looks like he's on break from asking people riddles in order to cross a bridge, suddenly reaches out for a high-five, just know, that was probably someone else because I'm gorgeous, I swear.
ReplyDeleteI'll have my pink pepperspray in hand, Pickleope. We should come up with a code word, in case this ever happens. I might not be able to distinguish one gorgeous Pickle from another. The South is full of them, right?
Delete"A Beer for the Chocolate, Life by the Shower" -- LOL! You lucky duck, Robyn, getting to meet Bryan in person! I'm so interested to hear that he's making an animated film.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your interview video at the top of the blog, too!
Thank you, thank you, Debra.
DeleteYeah, Bryan is a gift who's exceptionally gifted.
So did you take a shower there and was there a cold beer to take in with you? Really good to know he is doing well. Can't wait for the animation to be done and viewable! It is also good to be assured that Bryan is a real human being and not just some anime person.
ReplyDeleteNo showers or cold beer for me, Jono. I prefer baths and warm chocolate (ie hot fudge). Yeah, he's real and multidimensional and all. I'm glad we made that connection happen. You're on the list of bloggies I'd love to meet someday too.
DeleteBe well, friend.
I've only met one blogging buddy in person. She & her family drove from Utah to Los Angeles to meet me. It was wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteWow - that's a big drive to meet you, fishducky. How sweet and exciting.
DeleteIt's always fun to meet a blogger buddy in person.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the cat went to the moon, caught moon mice, and is now gloating.
That cat does look rather smug.
DeleteThanks, Diane.
How nice that you met Bryan. I hope I meet you someday.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Yes, I hope we do meet someday. And if WDW happens to be around, the three of us would have a great time too.
DeleteLove you.
Don't start thinking threesome.
DeleteDon't start? I haven't stopped!
DeleteThat is exciting that you met Bryan! I wondered why they disappeared. Maybe, someday I will meet a blogger.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing...
Thanks for dropping by and commenting, Truedessa. It's great to hear from their and my mutual friends here. I'm hopeful he's feeling the love. Bryan still makes some bloggy rounds.
DeleteI hope you do meet a blogger someday too. It brings you even closer. A very cool thing.
It's great that you two got together! It doesn't happen often, but it seems like it is always worth it.
ReplyDeleteThat's very true, Pat.
DeleteThank you.
I hope you're well, my friend.
Glad you got to meet your fellow blogger!
ReplyDeleteWhat happened though? I have it admit, that there's a lot of limitations on blogger - and they haven't updated it over the years. I'm waiting for the day when they pull the plug. Not that I want to but I think they will. If they're not investing in it....
They did, Anthony. I wrote that they had to close the blog. Blogger didn't let Bryan give any kind of response or info to their peeps - without a slew of headaches. It's gone. But he'll return with something bigger and better. =)
