Dear Sillies,
If you have one, yank it out and wave it proudly!
{Incidentally, Thursday is Flag Day.}
Take care of yourselves, my friends.
Welcome, My Sillies! Together we'll uncover morsels of sweetness in the light and dark. You'll crave chocolate. I'm a naughty influence. {Note: I avoid Hershey's but partake in regular fixes of fair trade and organic varieties.} Please enjoy a ravenous sampling, and may you fast become addicted. Cheers to all things sweet. That, Dear Sillies, includes you.
Patriotic duty suggests that if the flag is erect during the hours of darkness it should be properly illuminated.
ReplyDeleteI salute you for this declaration, EC.
DeleteWell stated.
It would just be rude to poke an eye out after being invited in.
ReplyDeleteI hate it when that happens, Pat. Fully agree.
DeleteThank you.
Oh heavens to Betsy...wave that flag proudly. Kneel when necessary.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I'm saying.
DeleteAnd "heavens to Betsy" <-You're brilliant!
Thanks, Joanne.
grin!!!
DeleteYou make every holiday more fun, Robyn.
ReplyDeleteIt wouldn't be fun without friends like you, Alex.
DeleteBetsy was a saucy girl.
ReplyDeleteA far underrated saucy one, that is.
DeleteYou're right, as always, Spunk.
Smiles.
So, does that mean I might get laid on Flag Day?
ReplyDeleteJust got The Trumpeter's New Clothes today, and read it before I even got back in my car at the Post Office! As soon as I can, I'll be leaving a review on Amazon. SPOILER WARNING: It's gonna be a good review!
WOOT! YAY! You're my favorite Fox!
DeleteThank you kindly.
PS Hope you'll read it again and again.
PPS Yes, you're going to get laid on Flag Day! What's your address?
DeleteMaybe I should send it privately. If I give it out right here on your blog, more than one woman might show up, and... Waitaminute, waitaminute, waitaminute! I'm talking like that's a bad thing!
DeleteHa. This could be the beginning of a wonderful new life. For you too.
DeleteBy the way, Robyn, I just left my review of The Trumpeter's New Clothes on Amazon, but it hasn't posted... yet.
DeleteThank you, Silver. I read and love it. You are appreciated!
DeleteI brought the book to the flea market Sunday, and one or two of the other dealers may end up buying it.
DeleteAlmost every time I read it, I spot something new. Sunday was the first time that I noticed the illustration where the King is petting a woman's cat, and she looks horrified. I thought "Why is she reacting like that? He's only... Oh, I get it!" Was that your bit or the artist's?
Ha! That bit, Silver, is MY FAVORITE little detail. ALL of those funnies are the illustrator's. I'm witty, but not compared to him. The only one that's mine is "White Lies Matter." It's likely the most potentially offensive ones, but I thought it was clever. He did too.
DeleteYes, I saw "White Lies Matter." I even pointed it out to my sister, I liked it so much!
DeleteThank you. Phew, I'm glad you saw this comment. Sorry it sometimes takes me a long time to read comments in response to comments. Unfortunately, I've missed a bunch too - over time. I really appreciate your support. "White Lies Matter" really just popped into my brain when I was talking with the illustrator - funny how that happens on rare occasion.
DeleteMay you salute a big flagpole soon!
ReplyDeleteFrom your mouth to...a big flagpole owner's ears, She Who Seeks.
DeleteThis post provides a new theory about why the patriotically mindful run flags up their poles --so that those distracted by fireworks won't blunder into them.
ReplyDeleteNow those are the true Americans, Geo. (The ones blundering into flag poles, that is.)
Deletetest... just testing to see if this posts. I think I hit enter before I finished my last post, dagnabdoggoneit. In any case, I'm here to say hello and congrats on your new book. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you kindly, Rosey.
DeleteSince Georgie had wooden teeth, I bet other parts were made of wood. He may have invented the term woody
ReplyDeleteIt kind of makes you re-think that cherry tree fable in new and exciting ways, right, Birgit?
DeleteNext time you parade it out..........that surely hits what is going on these days. Waving it purposely for others to see is not a sign of patriotism...not in my book. Read an article a few days ago the a Veteran posted, he says the most patriotic people he sees, are those kneeling. Hurrah for him I say.
ReplyDeleteSandy's Space
I agree. Hurrah for him.
DeleteThank you, Sandy.
You crack me up, Robyn. :-) Happy Flag Day to you!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Connie.
DeleteA package is underway.
And don't let it get rained on unless it's properly lit. (Oddly enough, that's actual flag etiquette. Sort of.)
ReplyDeleteHa. Sounds legitimate. Thanks, LD.
DeleteI need the right wind to raise it. Been a while. Must only be a light breeze about. I need a good old gust to come through and hoist that baby!
ReplyDeleteHope to get to grease a flagpole soon!
;)
xo
I hope you do too, Anthony. And I hope I do too.
Delete=) xo
