My Dear Sillies,
We've become a
wonderful fan base for each other. That's a very nice thing.
On the flipside, some beloved bloggies are painfully missed, like Jenny Matlock. Jenny used to do a Saturday Centus
exercise. I occasionally participated.
This photo was the prompt. The
challenge: using all five senses, write about this in 100 words max.
Here's my story, The Double Dog Dare...
“I double-dog dare ya to go in,” Johnny challenged. He was cute so I acted brave.
“Okay.”
I swallowed my jelly bean whole. Salty black-licorice flavor stuck to
my tongue. Entering the creepy old shack, the smell of mud overtook me.
I was blinded by darkness.
“Welcome!”
A boyish voice came up through the floors’ wooden panels. I noticed a
gaping hole at my feet and felt the sudden firm grip of fingers clasping
my ankles from below.
“Let me go! Help! Help!”
A familiar giggle slowed my pulse.
“Johnny, you poo-poo head! That wasn’t funny!”
Smiling.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, some bloggers find a permanent home in our heart. Present company included.
You're always in mind in terms of my close bloggy family, as well. EC.
DeleteLove to you.
That was cute.
ReplyDeleteIt's true, I've been blogging a long time and some bloggers have just disappeared without any word why.
It's very sad and shocking. Life and death happen, though. )=
DeleteThanks, Mary.
Jenny hasn't posted since 2016. When I have someone that hasn't posted in over a year I move them to a separate blog list. So far, no one has come back.
ReplyDeleteI know, Mike. I checked too. That's thoughtful of you to keep a blog list, sad they usually don't return. I take some comfort in their blogs living on, though. It's as if their passions remain with us.
DeleteBe well.
I couldn't ask for a better fan base. I like that. We're a special kinda tribe. It is sad when we disappear. I've been a bit of a slacker myself lately. I've missed it, so I'm back.
ReplyDeleteCute story. Johnny would've been shocked when I peed down my leg in fear.
Johnny would've deserved that. I'd have done the same.
DeleteWe are special.
Thank you, special friend.
I remember that story. I miss Jenny, too.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Sad. She was such a gem.
DeleteLove ya.
I remember that story too. Your writing is always engaging. I've not had a big fan base, but I admit I feel like I'm often just writing for me and that's okay. It's cathartic at times - especially for 2020 and this year. For me, my blog means I'm a "writer" and maybe I'll do more.....
ReplyDeleteCheers my friend
It's not about numbers, my friend. It's about quality and whatever else is important to you. You're of the highest quality, so keep on keeping on.
DeleteCheers to you.
Taking on a double dog dare is just ASKING for trouble!
ReplyDeleteThat's true, and I appreciate your perspective. She asked for it, didn't she? Ha.
DeleteHappy weekend, Debra.
I passed a dilapidated porch and heard a squeaking.
ReplyDeleteGlancing up, I saw an ancient wooden door hanging on ancient hinges.
Suddenly, the world was thrust into darkness.
Determined to find the source of the sound, I groped onto the porch and cautiously pulled the door open.
The sun abruptly came back on. Perhaps we paid God's electric bill?
On the floor was a mouse in a trap, grasping cheese.
A friend of nature, I freed the rodent.
Before scampering away, it held up a bit of cheese.
That's how I munched cheddar on a porch built during the Depression.
Mmmmmmmm.......cheese.......
Haha. He said "groped"!
DeleteSilly, silly man.
It is amazing how many bloggers I have only known via blogging have died, and even more just moved on. Intense storytelling here!
ReplyDeleteIt's a painful downside to this wonderful space.
DeleteThanks, Jeff.
What an interesting take on this theme. Well written too.
ReplyDeleteThank you, NRB.
DeleteI applaud you. Well written piece and enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kelly.
DeleteI am here now and just want to say thank you for a tremendous post and an all-around entertaining website. It is an extraordinary site you have here…I sincerely acknowledge BLOGGERS like you! non slip shoes men's
ReplyDeleteHenshaw?! I've been waiting for you for over a decade. It's about time! I'm ecstatic that you've finally made a presence at my place. Yeah, don't slip. There's a lot of water, but I don't have liability coverage, and I don't want men's shoes. I prefer the slip-and-slide kid's crocs.
DeleteNice article I was really impressed seeing this article, it was very interesting and it is very useful for me. You might want to check out comforting words for a mother who has lost a son
