Looks Like Snow to Me! Sundays in My City

UnknownMami hosts a picturesque party every Sunday. Visit her blog to view some beautiful sights across  the world.

Welcome to Northern, Northern California.

Earlier this week I saw something whitish that fell from the sky. I'm convinced it was snow but they're all laughing at me for that suggestion. (A native Californian, I don't know the difference between hail and snow.) Can you blame me? This IS snow, right?
Street art in Chico:
Our homey synagogue where I welcomed in the Jewish new year yesterday:

Thanks for visiting. Happy Sunday and new week!
Shanah Tovah (Happy New Year) as relevant.

  1. Snow...hail...at least it wasn't frozen airplane bathroom waste! L'shanah tovah back at y'all (said with my best southern accent)!

  2. It's hail. Trust me - I'm Canadian!

  3. I don't know if there's much of a difference between snow and hail to be honest, they both seriously suck, especially in only October!

  4. I'm very curious to know what the paint, or elaborate graffiti on the side of the synagogue is supposed to represent?

  5. MsA, I couldn't figure it out myself. It's very close to the synagogue but it's a different building.

    Alex, me too.

    Yeamie, so true.

Beth, if a Canadian says it's hail, it is just hail. Thanks.

Laughingmom, haha, good point and thanks for the southern wishes.

  6. For me the difference between snow and hail is simple: hail hurts and snow doesn't.

  7. I like the graffiti bldg...if seen from the window, would prove entertaining if the in house activities got boring. Experienced a rare hail storm or two in summer in Mumbai...caught those rocks in our upturned umbrellas...

  8. Looks like a mass of fish eggs. Has it been raining fish recently there??

  10. You haven't seen snow until you have lived in my neck of the woods ;0) However those are some huge hail pellets! You can knock someone out with those. Great pictures as usual xo

  11. It's hail, my friend. I've shoveled enough snow that my body instinctively shudders. :)

These are some beautiful pics and I love your synagogue. It is so cute. L'shanah tovah. May the New Year bring you many blessings.

  12. It's not snow - - - but I don't think it's hail either. Hail doesn't have a black dot on each sphere and land in a clump like that. I think it's some kind of eggs - like Chuck said. It DOES look like fish eggs - - - though why they'd be on dry land is an enigma, so I'm going for some form of large insect's eggs - - - maybe a preying mantis or something like that?

  13. I agree with the fish egg observation--are there salmon spawning in your yard?

  14. Well, it's either snow, hail, or cold manna.
    Prob'ly hail, though.

  15. You've got me laughing, people. It was an either-or question, not a fill in the blank. Snow or hail? That was the question. Now you've got me trying to figure out if it's preying mantis eggs, salmon eggs, some other kind of fish eggs or cold manna. THIS IS WHY I LOVE MY FOLLOWERS.

  16. That is hail. But you know that now! We had snow, real snow, fluffy, white, quiet snow yesterday...it was lovely.

  17. Is there an animal in California that leaves white droppings?

  18. That looks like snow to me! I got hit on the head by hail once. Didn't even know what it was! lol

  19. Come back home with me some time, and I'll show ya snow, toots. ;) Happy New Year to you!

  20. To go along with Julie's salmon suggestion, on my screen it looks like an eruption of chive cheese! I hope you enjoyed a shmear or two after you pounded yourself silly! Julie

  21. It doesn't look like snow to me either I'm afraid. Hope it's a good year for you. Shanah Tovah.

  22. Seems you have found a place to call home, you are really very lucky. Right now I live in middle of OC it is very expensive and I have considered moving to the outskirts/inland areas. Would be interesting to know what part of CA you live in and what the living expense/monthly budget breakdown is there, perhaps an idea for future post. ;-)

  23. I give you poetic liscense to call it snow. Happy New Year!

  24. It looks like hail, slush or from an overexcited bear.

    ;)

  25. Technically it's hail, but as you're from Cali, I think you're allowed to call it snow if you want to. :)
